Playboy by Katy Evans is the fifth book to the much beloved Manwhore series. Technically this is a standalone but I suggest starting from the beginning to get the full effect and understand the many characters that show up throughout the story. I absolutely appreciate the chance to review this early because the teasers and cover alone had me super excited to read this book.

Weeks after a bad breakup from who she thought was The One, Wynn Watson is back in the dating scene hoping to gain some happiness back in her life. What was supposed to be a fun date turns into watching an underground poker game and somehow getting ensnared in the web of the mysterious Playboy. Gambler turned pro poker player, Cullen Carmichael lives up to his nickname every day. Finally having a certain redhead in his clutches a new game begins for Cullen to show he's the real deal and now playing for the win.

I loved that the main characters complimented each other so well and brought out a side no one else saw. Cullen was so intense and guarded, keeping anyone around him at arms length, but with Wynn by his side he became more playful and open. Wynn however I wasn't always fond of. I felt like she settled with a relationship and into a role because all her other friends getting married and put up a wall that divided her from real fun because it wasn't part of her life plan. With Cullen and his bets Wynn slowly loosened up and started living for the moments instead of trying to fit into a certain mold based off of others.

All in all Playboy was a fun, enjoyable read and the setting being in Vegas was super cool. Especially the scenes with the poker games, they felt so real it was as if I was another player experiencing the same rush as Cullen. I know for sure I want to read the other books in this series because I feel with great certainty I will love them just as much. Playboy is swoony and sinful in the best ways and definitely a book to keep a lookout for.

Racer - Katy Evans

Racer Tate stole my heart!! Even if you haven't read his parents' love story, you will love Racer and Lana's story. New adult romance is a hit or miss genre for me, but Racer is certainly a hit!

Lana's mother took off a few years ago, her father is dying of cancer, and their family business, HW Racing is floundering. Lana has always been the sunshine of her family, trying to keep her father's dreams alive and her brothers spirits up. So, she is determined to find a driver for their F1 car. What she finds, however, is the best street racer in the world. Can Racer Tate turn into a winning F1 driver?

Racer is as complex as his father. Diagnosed with Bipolar 1 disorder like his father, Racer is a risk taker. He is aware of his medical condition and like his father before him, does a lot to manage it. He exercises frequently, eats well, avoids alcohol, and sticks to his regime. However, its always the elephant in the room for him. He is afraid that Lana won't be able to handle his diagnosis. Regardless, he knows immediately, Lana is the girl he will marry. He finally understands what his parents have is real and not just a lucky event. Now he has to convince Lana he is a good bet. She doesn't want to get involved with the driver for their team. Plus, her brothers are a bit over protective. None of this deters Racer, and its super hot!

Lana has her own issues. Her first love, best friend David, died when they were teenagers. She has never quite recovered and is terrified to love anyone because they always leave. Her mom abandoned them, David died, her father is dying. She worries that getting involved with Racer will end in tragedy. Plus, she sees him as an employee of her family's company and therefore off limits.

These two burn SLOW but so hot. The sexual tension is off the charts. Their desire for each other will ignite your kindle so be prepared.

Commander in Chief (White House Book 2) - Katy Evans 

 

I really feel like this book is what the first one SHOULD have been.  Matt was willing to fight for Charlotte and she in turn was willing to fight for their relationship.  I think that all would have been a lot easier BEFORE he got in the White House but what do I know.

 

I enjoyed this story and didn't have the nagging thought in the back of my mind about them keeping secrets so I was happy to see the way things turned out.

 

And I must say, I kept picturing Matt like Justin Trudeau of Canada.  I certainly wouldn't mind looking at a president who looked like him.  *sigh*
