Visions
Visions - Larkin Rose I have no wish to offend the author, or give the book a poor rating just because repeated erotica and "I was so wet" on every other page is not for me. The main character, Paige, did not seem mentally sound. Shitty past, she worked past it, now successful - sounds great. Oh, but it is unfortunate that she cannot have the level of orgasm she experienced six years prior in some masked ball, with an anonymous masked woman.

The love interest, Mayson, in this story would not have sounded erotic if the character was a man. "No" does not work very well with her. In fact, she does what she wants with Paige as Paige is just stupefied into silence while thinking what she should say. Much of the relationship is based on dominance/control and for Paige to wonder, once again, "was it too much to fucking need sex that ripped the soul out of your body?"

So, anyway, erotic books that spell things out are not my genre, so I am leaving the stars blank in case this was actually a well written book for people who enjoy this type of fiction.

DNFing Can't Sexism in a Lesbian Romance
Visions - Larkin Rose

Disclaimer: A copy of this book was provided by the publisher for an honest review.

I'm DNF'ing this one. I like the sexy bits and the writing is good, but I can't stand the characters anymore. The causal use of "bitch" and "slut," not to mention Paige slut shaming other women, when she's an exotic dancer, pretty much ruined the book for me. Aside from Paige's constant shit talking about other women, I thought she was an interesting character. I was really intrigued by Mayson, but they both dropped into these gross stereotypes of competitive catty women from time to time, especially with each other, and made it hard for me to care about them. Their ridiculous fight was the last straw. If anyone treated me the way these two women treated each other in that scene they wouldn't be allowed within fifty feet of me, much less in my bed.

It's all really disappointing to see this much hating on women in a lesbian romance of all places.

Reading progress update: I've read 31%.
Visions - Larkin Rose

The subtle thread of internalized misogyny is kind of killing the mood. Paige really doesn't like women all the much, which is understandable give her problems with her mother, but still. All this talk of "sluts" and "bitches" is annoying the fuck out of me.

Can we PLEASE stop using "wife beater" to describe a tank top, especially in lesbian romance?

Visions
Visions - Larkin Rose Typical lesfic books obsess over finding 'The One'--that elusive soulmate for life. This book obsesses over finding 'The One' too--that perfect, glorious, mind-altering 'O' so powerful they reduce one to tears (author's words ;) ).

Paige Burton experiences one mind-shattering night in a party with an anonymous masked woman while visiting New Orleans. For the next several years, no one has managed to top it or even come close. As her way of coping, she puts out a blog reviewing sex toys and dances in her own nightclub and does nightly battles with her evil orange cat. Fate pushes her into the path of self-made billionaire Mayson Montgomery--tall, tanned, buff--and lifted straight out of a Harlequin romance but with upgraded finances and the right gender, of course. The two ladies have a history, and because of it Paige carries a huge chip on her shoulder. But what neither of them know, is that that they know each other much more intimately than that.

The plot is quite implausible but it's a lot of fun and a little angsty. This is an erotic novel so check your logic at the door and enjoy the ride... and remember to hang on.

If you loved the [b:The Night Off|12921354|The Night Off|Meghan O'Brien|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1328743887s/12921354.jpg|18076602], you'll definitely enjoy this. No BDSM here though, just erotic games.

5 stars for the erotica, 4 for everything else. And props to BSB for that incredibly gorgeous cover!

P.S. Whats with the one-star reviews? Get this book with your eyes open. This is F/F erotica that actually has an interesting if predictable plot, good characterization, some angst, lots of humor and is at least long enough to not feel like a rip-off. :)
