Deadly Intentions (Hardy Brothers Security Book 1)
Deadly Intentions (Hardy Brothers Security Book 1) - Lily Harper Hart I liked this one. It was sweet, and I really liked the brothers. Not over the top angsty, but the pushing away by the hero went on a bit to long. Especially when the reason was pretty stupid to begin with.

Overall though I enjoyed it and will continue on with the series.

Side Note: "Mandy sucked one of his balls into her mouth, relishing the MUSTY smell of him"

I REALLY REALLY hope the author meant "MUSKY" cause ain't nothing sexy about musty grandma smelling mothballs. No one's balls should ever smell musty...like ever! *lol*

Wicked Days
Wicked Days - Lily Harper Hart

DNF.  Unfortunately, I just couldn't wade through the hormonal disturbance that was this book.

If all the cheesy, melodramatic and overwrought romance was taken out of this book, it would've been a great mystery.  It's one thing to introduce a little romantic spark, or a bit of sexual tension. It adds a little spice to a book.  I get that.  It's another thing to beat a reader over the head with pent-up in-your-face hot mess.  If this book was a dance move, it would be a pelvic thrust.  In your eye.  Going on and on and on.

It would've been only 12 pages long, but it would've been a good mystery. So 1 star for plot, -4 stars for everything else.

Wicked Days - Lily Harper Hart

This is a shitty romance novel masquerading as a cozy mystery.

Deadly Intentions (Hardy Brothers Security #1) by Lily Harper Hart
Deadly Intentions (Hardy Brothers Security Book 1) - Lily Harper Hart

Deadly Intentions begins when Mandy runs into her old best friend from a child. She tells her she needs some help because she thinks she is in danger. So, her friend tells her to go to her brothers' security firm.  When she was young Mandy had a crush on her friend's brother James. But he was older then her, and didn't see her that way. Now, though she's not a little girl, and James isn't at all sure what he should do with that. While he's trying to help, he's also trying to figure out what he feels for her, and he can't seem to stay away from her either.

This story was okay. It was a pretty interesting fast paced read. I felt it was good till you got toward the end, then it got a little bit boring. Other then that the plot was interesting, and the characters were all very interesting as well. Even when they made a few stupid choices, it still turned out fairly well. I really did enjoy it.

If you like your books steamy (this is an adult fantasy romance, not for kids or teens!) and you aren’t easily offended by potty-mouthed, crass guardian angels, read on!

BETTER OFF DEAD is the first book in the Lily Harper urban fantasy series:

If there’s such a thing as luck, Lily Harper definitely doesn’t have it.

Killed in a car accident before it’s her time to go, Lily learns that the hereafter isn’t exactly what she hoped it might be.

First, there’s AfterLife Enterprises, the company responsible for sorting out the recently dead and sending them on their way to the Kingdom, (aka happily ever after,) or to the Underground City, (not so happily ever after.)

Learning that Lily’s death was indirectly their fault (her guardian angel, Bill, was MIA during her accident and was one of their employees,) Afterlife Enterprises offers Lily the chance to live again.

But, as with most things involving the afterlife, beware the fine print. Most notably, Lily will become a soul retriever, venturing into the bowels of the Underground City to retrieve souls that were mistakenly sent there by Afterlife Enterprises during a Y2K computer glitch.

Second, there’s angel Bill. As if risking her second life in the Underground City wasn’t enough, Lily’s guide to the Underground is none other than her incompetent, alcoholic, womanizing guardian angel, Bill, the antithesis of anything wholesome. With only Dante’s Inferno and Bill to help her in her quest, Lily’s future isn’t looking bright.

Finally, there’s the legendary bladesmith, Tallis Black. As Scottish as his kilts and heavy brogue, Tallis Black is a centuries-old Celt who, for reasons only known to him, offers to train Lily and act as her escort into the depths of the Underground City. Dark, brooding and definitely dangerous, Lily knows she shouldn’t trust Tallis, but she also can’t deny her attraction to him.

Between soul retrieving in hell, dealing with Bill and trying to figure out what’s in it for Tallis, Lily wonders if maybe she would’ve just been better off dead.
