It is done...finally
Prisoner of Love - Tawny Taylor,Michelle M. Pillow,Jaid Black

Not to my taste.

Tale the first features a h and her bestie getting caught up in the mists of time and finding themselves in Scotland long before indoor plumbing was invented. Add to that, the convenience of the H and his band of merry men being on a rieving mission to steal his would-be bride (steal her and marry her in some random priest's hut as opposed to a formal arrangement between families. Gotcha). I mean, I suppose it wasn't bad, but it's hard for me to get past the 0-60 aspects of it. But then there was that position where we're beat over the head with the fact that her buttocks and labia are skyward (that's what it said. )

Tale the first reminds me of a book I read sometime last year. I'd swear the book author read this and decided to improve upon it. Basically the H is a dragon, the h is trying to get something from him, and as he discovers quickly, she's his mate. Irritants - that 0-60 aspect, coupled with bdsm.

Tale the third is an alien abduction, with the H being a dragooni or something like that. The h spends several days in an induced sleep while getting "prepared" for mating while she's awake. The impression I got was that the H (and with this sort of thing as a norm, I'm using that term v. loosely) was boinking her while she was drugged out of her mind. Then expected her to be all warm and fuzzy about things when she woke up. Frankly I would have been out for blood. Also, this is a menage.

Stolen Hours
Stolen Hours - Michelle M. Pillow

by Michelle M. Pillow

I really enjoyed the first part of this story. I knew it was meant to be a Romance and was anticipating something along the lines of The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, then was pleasantly surprised to find an amusing story about a house full of ghosts with personality quirks that could have been a brilliant story.

Then I got to the second part where it suddenly changes from a comedy to a romance. This is where it all fell down. We are given a time jump and told that the protagonist has fallen in love with the ghost (I don't consider that a spoiler as it was the premise of the story), but given no idea how that developed. That should have been the crux of the story, but instead it's completely skipped over.

The romance phase is fairly meh and lacks believability, especially in the gratuitous move-by-move sex scene that seems to be expected in Romance genre books these days and is the reason why I mostly don't read them anymore. I find it sad that a genre for 'clean Romance' has had to be invented and that Amazon isn't using it yet, so any purchase of a book marked Romance runs a risk of turning out to be porn instead.

I finished the story despite this, in hopes that something would touch the romantic nature of my soul, but on that aspect, the story was a fail. I think it should be re-written as a comedy, because the author is good at that.

The Savage King: A Dragon Lords Story (Lords of the Var Book 1) - Michelle M. Pillow

Well, this one surprised me. It was a quick, sexy read, with an interesting spin on a much visited Shifter world. Kirill I love. He and his brothers won my heart. The Brief glimpse you get into their world/culture is illuminating. It makes you want to know more... Ulyssa I loved her in the beginning even in the middle. She was strong. Steadfast and determined. Her background gives the sense of why she is the way she is, but towards the end she seemed to lose something for me. She came off as a bit lost, whinny in her dealings with Kirill. It just didn't flow organically in this regard for me, considering all that we've been shown thus far, with her and him.

But the ending was a sweet one. If not a little cheeky.

I would recommend this read if you're in the mood for something sexy, a bit erotic, and sightly suspenseful.

The Savage King: A Dragon Lords Story (Lords of the Var Book 1) - Michelle M. Pillow

Hmm... while book 2 was a lot of fun, book 1 is a bit more serious, and more than a little frustrating.

The h is an agent with the HIA, and is undercover. The H's dad and his party stumble across her reporting in, and she's kidnapped and tossed into his harem. Fortunately, daddy douchebag is on his last raid when he finds her and is killed shortly thereafter. The H...inherits said harem along with other duties. Heroine manages to slip out, and is caught by him. He tosses her in his home and leaves her to sleep off whatever she'd drank.

She gets out later, gets caught by one of his brothers, and tells him she's the H's. Brother ties her to his bed. He comes back with one of the harem women only to find his bed occupied. And so on...

Unfortunately, she's undercover and can't tell him. Also unfortunately, he's trying to live up to dear old dad's standards of not committing to one woman. Much of the book is spent in an uneasy truce with sex. After she's given her communicator back, she calls her boss and delivers the message in code. Her boss tells her wait there's more, also in code. She manages to escape for real by hacking into the mainframe and erasing herself.

Eventually she makes it to the enemy where the bad guy's daughter is the wife of one of them, and much conversation later, they find the bioweapon, her work is done, and dumba...errr...the H finally admits he loves her and wants to keep her.
