He didn't disappoint either!
I look forward to the next book in the series.
Leila has a secret that she has not told her dads. She come with a key when she was abandoned as a baby.
Now an old friend of her dad come to town. She claimed to be a psychic. We all know she is lying as there is no such thing
The magic misfits are having regular meeting. Now they found out that Lelia dad was only in a magic club.
Lelia was invited to take part in a performance. During the performance, a person come forward and claimed to be Lelia parent.
There are bad guys and the bad guys belonged to the same carnival Carter escaped from.
And there are secret messages and use of Morse code. Fun read.
Reading this for Creepy Carnivals square.
Carter is an orphan who lived with a bad uncle that used him to steal from people.
He run away and take a train ride to another beautiful small town where he met a magician and his family.
Now he got new friends who like magic and would help him to gain some trust back.
The book is written for teenagers who like adventure and secret code. There are quite a lot of those. Also, there are in-between chapters that give beginner level magic tricks.
Lovely. It is a fun read and a fun books with secret messages.
Looking for them now.... And the story is about teenagers against bad guys who want to steal from people.
The diversity in characters and background has sent a message that just written words. There are two gay dads with an adopted daughter, a best friend in wheelchair. Like real life, people are diverse, but they could be friends and do things together. And the difference doesn't really matter. It is no big deal. And that's the treatment in this book.
Highly recommended it. Especially for children and teens.
The story is about a boy Carter who was a street magician with a bad uncle. He run away and met with new friends who are also into magic.
What so good about this one is that Neil Patrick Harris has added beginner level of magic tricks into the story.
Also it is a very diverse in characters, including adoptive child, same sex couple as parents and teen in wheelchair. The focus is not on their diversity but as a diverse background to the story.
Like that treatment a lot.
For more reviews, check out my blog: Craft-Cycle Everything you loved about book number one now in a completely new adventure. This series is so amazing. I love the whole concept. And the magic trick how-tos are such a fun way for readers to really engage with the book. I was slightly disappointed that the audiobook wasn't fully read by Neil Patrick Harris (he does do the magic trick tutorials and extras- i.e. acknowledgements, character reviews, etc.), but I understand that since this one focused on Leila, they went with a female narrator. Also, Christina Hendricks did a phenomenal job reading it. I loved all of her character voices. Great reading. This book continues what happened in the last book as well as developing new plots. Great balance. I was engaged with the story the entire time. While some parts were predictable, I still really enjoyed listening to it. I also really like that the adults work with the children in this series, instead of against them as so many adults in children's books do. It is a nice change. Plus, Mr. Vernon and Other Mr. Vernon are amazing parents. Love their relationship with Leila. Amazing book with adorable illustrations. I really like this series. Can't wait for the third book to come out. This is definitely a series I will stick with to the end. |
