"Levi's smile faded, and he sat back slowly" page 222
Fangirl by Rowell, Rainbow (2014) Paperback - Rainbow Rowell

I chose this quote because it showed Levi's feelings at that moment in the story. Levi is sorry that he didn't realize that he hurt Cath's feelings at first. He didn't know that Cath came to the party and saw what he was doing that upset her the most. This part of the book adds a lot of light suspense that makes you wonder what will happen next and shows Levi's feelings for Cath.

“I don’t trust anybody. Not anybody. And the more that I care about someone, the more sure I am they’re going to get tired of me and take off.”
― Rainbow Rowell, Fangirl
Fangirl by Rowell, Rainbow (2014) Paperback - Rainbow Rowell

This quote by the character Cath really represents her personality and the authors style. Cath isn't very confident and she has trust issues. Her mom left her when she was young and she hasn't recovered since. This affects Caths writing ability and relationships. The author, Rainbow Rowell, writes like this in a lot of her books. She talks about real issues that a lot of young people deal with. She writes about doubts, confidence, and family problems. This quote is very representative of Cath and the author.

B - Sarah Kay,Sophia Janowitz
The Type - Sarah Kay
No Matter the Wreckage by Kay, Sarah (2014) Paperback - Sarah Kay
She’s gonna learn that this life will hit you, hard, in the face, wait for you to get back up so it can kick you in the stomach. But getting the wind knocked out of you is the only way to remind your lungs how much they like the taste of air. There is hurt, here, that cannot be fixed by band-aids or poetry, so the first time she realizes that Wonder-woman isn’t coming, I’ll make sure she knows she doesn’t have to wear the cape all by herself. Because no matter how wide you stretch your fingers, your hands will always be too small to catch all the pain you want to heal. Believe me, I’ve tried.

This is part of a poem by Sarah Kay. I saw her perform it on TED below. She also did this one. I loved her performances and wanted to share part of her magic for National Poetry Month. I've attached her books to this post as well, but the full text of the poem this except comes from, B (If I should have a daughter), can be found here. But it's so much better to watch her perform it.

“But as for me: I must ask the wounded man where he is hurt, because I cannot become the wounded man. The only wounded man I can be is me.”
