Reading progress update: I've listened 967 out of 967 minutes.
The Little Stranger - Sarah Waters,Simon Vance

This was an excellent audiobook, brilliantly narrated by Simon Vance. And Iove that Sarah Waters in the end doesn´t present all the answers wrapped up in a neat bow. Although,

now that I have reread this book, I don´t doubt for one moment that Dr. Faraday has killed off Caroline. But what about all the other things that has happened? Is "the little stranger" Dr. Faraday himself?

I definitely have to bump up my star rating for this book.

Being stuck inside the head of this condescending creep Dr. Faraday is quite sickening. And it makes me want to get my trusted frying pan out of my cupboard.

This just shows how fabulous Simon Vance´s narration is. His narration truly adds something special to this story.

I´m really enjoying Simon Vance´s narration. I cannot remember feeling the subtle dread and doom of this story the first time I read it and he has the perfect voice for Dr. Faraday:

He absolutely nails the pathetic, self-righteous do-gooder that Dr. Faraday is.

Reading progress update: I've read 26%.
The Little Stranger - Sarah Waters

‘God,’ she said, closing her eyes.

‘Caroline, he’s old.’

‘Does that make it better?’

‘I give you my word, he won’t suffer.’

She sat tensely for a moment; then her shoulders sank, she let out her breath, and all the bitterness seemed to bleed away from her.

She said, ‘Oh, take him. Everything else has gone, why not take him too? I’m sick of fighting it.’

Grrrr. I forgot how rage-inducing this part of the book is.

This is one of those books that I want to shove a character off a cliff, or hit them with a shovel in the woods, or... Anyway, that particular reaction is even stronger on the re-read.

It's not Caroline I mean, tho.
