Abby in Wonderland - good little riff on Alice. Abby has to find her wand It was great seeing Oscar as a King. The cleverness of Carroll's work isn't here but it is not a bad take on it.
Big Red Riding Hood - Big Bird has to deliver goods to his grandmother and then he meets Cookie Monster (aka the Big Bad Wolf). Cookie wants all the strawberries. Who can blame him, come to think of it? It was a fun read.

I have always loved and appreciated Fred Rogers as a gentle soul, who wanted us to love each other and treat each other with kindness and compassion. Everything I learned only made me appreciate him more--and this book, opening my eyes to his Christianity-based politics, was the icing on the cake.
Even as a child, I knew Rogers' inclusion of Francois Clemmons, the African-American police officer as a Mister Rogers' Neighborhood went against the social grain. From this book, I learned Clemmons was the first African-American with a regular role on a children's television series, joining before Northern Calloway (David), Matt Robinson (Gordon), and Loretta Long (Susan) on Sesame Street. I also learned Clemmons' hiring was a deliberate--loving, but deliberate--act, especially the wading pool scenes with him. Those shared soaking scenes were in direct protest to segregated swimming pools, and violent responses to integrated pools.
Mister Rogers resisted pressure from certain cast members to be more visibly and aggressively political, because they felt his responsibility was to his children and family audience; his neighborhood needed to be a quiet, safe place of learning, the one place in their lives where protests were not taking place, where no one was shouting, and where no one was making frightening ultimatums. Michael Long's book touched me, as a child of the '70's, in so many ways. This book would make a nice addendum to high school and college courses covering 1960's and 1970's cultural and social history. Highly recommended.

A and I had fun reading this book. It became a giggling fest as we were reading more and more. This story is just like the song 12 days of Christmas. We begin with the first day and work our way up to the 12th day all the while singing it as we go. This book is perfect to read not only around Christmas time but anytime! The pictures are awesome and go well with the book.
A is really starting to enjoy Sesame Street books so I think we will be reading not only this story again but more of these books.
A has really enjoyed me reading books that have the Sesame Street characters in them. When I saw this book had to do with counting I thought it would be a good book for her especially because she likes to count. In this book we are counting up to ten where at the end there seems to be a festival of some sort. The pictures are very bright and colorful and really go with the story.
I think children of all ages from 2 on up would really enjoy this book. It is a simple counting book with a few sentences on each page.
I got this book on loan from our local library. The only reason I picked this title was because it has Abby Cadabby in this book and my daughter's name is Abbi. I thought she would really love this book as it has her name in it and we all know little kids love books that have their name in the story.
With Abby's Pink Party we start off with her feeling a bit sad as it is a special day and no one has remembered. But wait with help from Grover our furry blue friend he helps her feel a little bit better by taking her to cool places while their friends plan something special for her.
I love how the pictures are very bright and pop out to you.
The only thing is there are a lot of words on each page so if your young child does not sit for very long to listen you may find yourself flipping the pages. A didn't mind at all she was happy to see that Abby was getting a surprise!
