THE VERY LITTLE PRINCESS: ROSE'S STORY by Marion Dane Bauer
The Very Little Princess: Rose's Story -... The Very Little Princess: Rose's Story - Marion Dane Bauer

Rose finds a china doll hidden in the attic. Her mother is afraid she will break it but Rose says she won't. When Rose has been teased at school she runs from school crying and the doll comes to life. She is a princess and lets Rose know it. They go on adventures and Rose grows up but will she leave her princess doll behind?

What a delightful story! I loved how there is a narrator who throws asides out to the reader. That is fun. I liked Rose and how she and her brother reconnected over the doll. He has a story to tell and she learns it. She knows that the princess is there for her but sometimes she forgets that she needs to be there for the princess. A wonderful read for those 6 and up.

GOSSIP FROM THE GIRLS' ROOM by Rose Cooper
Gossip from the Girls' Room - Rose Cooper

Sofia runs a blog on the school computers. She listens in the girls' room to get her gossip. Naturally she only hears part of the story then adds what she wants to make it sound juicy. She is upset when Mia, the most popular girl in school, likes Andrew, Sofia's crush. Then just when she thinks it cannot get any worse, her mother starts substituting at her school. What will she do?

I found Sofia a hoot. She is exactly like the girls who aren't popular but want to be and since she has access to blogging she hopes that she will pick up more followers for it. She also has a lot of gossip about Mia. She practices for her blog with a notebook which she loses at times. Not good because who has it, who sees it, who reads it! Fortunately she finds it but who has read it? She hopes no one but she does not know for sure. I remember Mias from my school days and it was no different back then as now.

This is fun. I enjoyed the format of a notebook as she tells her story. I also enjoyed her artwork, especially the snarky comments. They are the most truthful and school is still the same.

Concrete Rose
Concrete Rose - Angie Thomas
“Tough situations don’t last. Tough people do.”
I get this feeling of anticipation just before I read one of Angie’s books. I know they’ll be no turning back once I read that first page, for she begins setting the stage with her authentic scenes, the intense drama, and those characters that I swear have to have an address somewhere because her fiction is incredible, it’s so natural.

With his father in jail and his mother working, 17-year-old Maverick is learning about life the hard way. It seems that he just keeps getting knocked down again and again. Following in his father’s footsteps, Maverick has joined a gang and is selling drugs. This promise is an obligation that Maverick has now committed himself to. He’s enjoying his relationship with Lisa when his one-night stand, informs him that he’s now a daddy.

The temperature is starting to get warm as Maverick tries to handle the emotions and responsibilities that come with this new accusation. Maverick doesn’t understand how this can this happen, as it was only one night. I had to smile when I read this, as that’s normally what you hear from pregnant women. What’s going to happen with his relationship with Lisa? How will he be able to juggle everything that seems to be coming at him at full speed now?

I felt that Maverick did the best that he could, given the circumstances that he was under. Oh, he was frustrated and outraged at times yet, at the back of his mind, he was focused. He saw the end of the tunnel; he was just having a hard time getting there.

Another remarkable book by this fantastic author. I highly recommend this book and all the other books in this series. I look forward to the next book that Angie Thomas writes.

Nine, Ten, Never Sleep Again by Willow Rose
Nine, Ten ... Never sleep again - Willow Rose
Man, this author never fails to keep me turning page after page!!
This was such an intense read, and with so many side twists to it too. I couldn't get enough of it, to be honest. I literally devoured this story.
I think this is my favorite in the series so far. It was different, but in a good way. It still had all of the elements that I look for in a thriller/horror read. Had a wicked protagonist. Scared the pants off me. Had all of the gore you would expect from a mass murder story. It's the clever twists that Willow Rose puts in that make her a master at what she does!!
Okay, so there was one part, where this guy kills a chick for his reasons. Then he kills again and honestly, I had a groundhog moment. The chick wasn't killed in the same way but I got lost in who was being killed. It felt like the same chick for a minute.
But I digress....
Can't wait to read Eleven, Twelve, Dig and Delve. I just know it's gonna be epic.
