This Place is Death by Denise Grover Swank
This Place is Death - Denise Grover Swank

This Place Is Death is a novella that gives us the background of the curse that The Curse Keepers series is based on.  Although not necessary for the series, it is a good addition.  Now we understand what exactly happened to the Roanoke Colony, and why Ellie’s family has been stuck passing down the curse through the generations.  It is sad, and I hope that she can help her Dare ancestors.

Mid-day surprise...
The Hotel on Place Vendome: Life, Death, and Betrayal at the Hotel Ritz in Paris - Tilar J. Mazzeo
Hounded - Kevin Hearne
The Inheritor's Powder: A Tale of Arsenic, Murder, and the New Forensic Science - Sandra Hempel
Top Secret Twenty-One - Janet Evanovich

DH was running work errands and stopped at home long enough to drop off my latest arrivals from Book Depository.  I've been stomping the floorboards every afternoon waiting for The Hotel on Place Vendôme to arrive - why is it that the most anticipated books take the longest to get here?!?!

So, new book happiness.  Although I'm sort of apprehensive about going into my library to add them to my TBR stack.  At some random point in the very near future, I'm going to add the book that sparks actual life in my TBR pile and it's going to start growling at me.

Feed me Seymour! just popped into my head...

THE HOTEL ON PLACE VENDÔME: Life, Death, and Betrayal at the Hotel Ritz in Paris - READ!
The Hotel on Place Vendome: Life, Death, and Betrayal at the Hotel Ritz in Paris - Tilar J. Mazzeo

This book was a mind-blowing experience for me. I'll admit, I'm not extremely knowledgeable on French history other then main events in France during WW II. After reading this, that is something I'm planning on rectifying. I'm hoping to pick up Dawn of the Belle Epoque first, but any other recommendations you have, I'd love to hear them. This lack of basic information though meant this book gave me a huge amount of threads and good general connections but was simply overloaded with so much unknown information.

Reading progress update: I've read 292 out of 292 pages.
The Hotel on Place Vendome: Life, Death, and Betrayal at the Hotel Ritz in Paris - Tilar J. Mazzeo

Well, now that my mind is sufficiently blown, I'm going to have to gather the scattered threads of this book into a coherent review.

That might take a bit.

Right now I'm in information overload and there is just too much stuff in my brain. This author brings a ton a interlocking stories together.

In short, great book and as soon as I work out how I feel about it, I'll let you know.

I've got it back! *happy dance*

I've got books I need to read before this...but I'll probably dive back into this tomorrow. Can't wait to finish it.
