Eehhh
Hers to Heal - Vonnie Davis Reece “Steelhead” Browning has been at the Eagle Ridge Ranch, trying to recover from his severe PTSD. Gina Wilson is his physical therapist. She drives him absolutely nuts, in both a good way and a bad way. When he meets her too smart 6 year old, his defenses start to tumble down. After reading the first book in this series, I couldn’t wait for the second, so I dove right into this one. However, with this book, it was kind of hit and miss. It started out really good, but towards the end, not so much. Unfortunately, that tends to happen for me with this author. Still a 3 star read and would still recommend it. **I voluntarily read and reviewed this book

Great Story and Characters
Her Survivor: A Black Eagle Ops Novel - Vonnie Davis When Dustin “Dust” Frank was released from a military hospital after a horrible attack, he heads to his former commander’s ranch in Texas, the Eagle Ridge Ranch. As soon as he gets to town, he meets Kelcee Todd and fireworks explode, in the wrong way. This book was pretty good. I really liked Dusty’s character. I thought the author did a good job of the way he dealt with his PTSD. I also liked Kelcee a lot. I liked watching how she slowly started to trust Dusty with everything she was dealing with. I highly recommend. **I voluntarily read and reviewed this book

Hers to Heal - Vonnie Davis
I have to start off by saying that I did enjoy the chemistry between the two main characters, Reece and Gina) but I loved Piper...what a little spitfire that kid was. Piper had no filter when it came to what she said, in true kid fashion, and there were times that I just couldn't help but shake my head while saying "kids" out loud. Now back to Gina and Reece, Reece is suffering from severe PTSD now that he has been rescued from the terrorists that held him captive, he also lost an arm and that is how he met Gina, she is his physical therapist determined to get him to use his prosthetic as if it was still his original arm.

Reece was so far into his own head that he never spoke to anyone, actually when I read the books blurb I thought he might be mute but that wasn't the case at all, he just needed a reason to start speaking again and Piper he found that reason. I absolutely loved the bond that Reece and Piper had and when a series of events unfold I understand why he did what he did. I am not going to let on about what happened but I will say that if I was in his shoes towards the end of the book I would have done the same thing.

I CANNOT WAIT to read JJ and Ashley's story!!! Hers to Heal
Hers to Heal - Vonnie Davis Welcome back to Eagle Ridge Ranch, and give a big Texas hello to Reece Browning! Reece is the newest member of ZQ's old team to come to the ranch for recovery after the loss of his arm. After the trauma he endured at the hands of his captors, Reece has taken to not speaking. Gina, his physical therapist, is the polar opposite. She's quite the chatterbox! In the beginning, it looks as though it bugs him that she talks non-stop, but it's really just to get him to open up. He slowly starts to open up, and you get to see what Reece may have been like before becoming a SEAL. As the story progresses, you get the backstory of Gina and Reece. You also meet Gina's daughter, Piper, who is the smartest 6-year-old you will ever meet, and she's looking for a father. While their friendship develops into a relationship, trouble is brewing. Will ZQ and his team be able to step in and avert a crisis, or will they be too late?

I had moments of frustration and moments where I literally laughed out loud. As I relived the traumas with Gina and Reece, I gained a deeper level of appreciation for the men and women in our Armed Forces. It reminds you how real PTSD is and how poorly it's being treated. I thank Ms. Davis for bringing attention to the subject.

I fell in love with the secondary characters. I found Piper to be absolutely adorable. She's reminded me of Bryce's daughter, Colleen, from A Highlander's Passion . I cannot forget Junebug and her love for Jack. It is truly hilarious. I enjoyed getting to know and (slightly) understand Ashley and everything she has been through. I'm not sure whose story I'm more looking forward to, ZQ or JJ. All I know is I can't wait!
