Exciting October Releases
The Rancher Returns - Brenda Jackson
A Terrible Beauty - Tasha Alexander
Hag-Seed - Margaret Atwood
Diamonds and Pearl - K'wan
Les Parisiennes: How the Women of Paris Lived, Loved, and Died Under Nazi Occupation - Anne Sebba
The Other Einstein: A Novel - Marie Benedict

This month I'm excited about black romance, historical romance, urban fiction and always anything to do with Paris. However, Les Parisiennes is the story of the women who lived during the Nazi occupation. Not a light read, but one I'm sure to find informative. Hag-Seed is the retelling of William Shakespeare's The Tempest. I don't believe I've read that play so, this will be intriguing. The Other Einstein tells the story of Einstein's wife Mitza who was a physicist.

September 2015 Anticipated Releases

Hey guys, I hope you all are having a great day! This is my September 2015 Anticipated Releases list! This is going to be a long list, just so you guys know. I think the most books I’m anticipating in this year so far is in this month.

So, without further ado these are the September 2015 releases on my TBR:

Queen of Shadows (Throne of Glass) - Sarah J. Maas

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas

hardcover: 656 pages

releasing September 1st, 2015 by Bloomsbury USA Childrens

Sarah J. Maas's New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass series reaches new heights in this sweeping fourth volume.

Everyone Celaena Sardothien loves has been taken from her. But she's at last returned to the empire—for vengeance, to rescue her once-glorious kingdom, and to confront the shadows of her past . . .

She will fight for her cousin, a warrior prepared to die just to see her again. She will fight for her friend, a young man trapped in an unspeakable prison. And she will fight for her people, enslaved to a brutal king and awaiting their lost queen's triumphant return.

Celaena’s epic journey has captured the hearts and imaginations of millions across the globe. This fourth volume will hold readers rapt as Celaena’s story builds to a passionate, agonizing crescendo that might just shatter her world.

THE AMAZING FOURTH BOOK IN THE Throne of Glass SERIES! Yep, Heir of Fire was kind of more of a build-up and really focused on character growth. So, I have quite high expectations from this book after the way the last one ended! And we all seriously need a good Celaena-Chaol reunion because I will have a heart attack if I don’t! Also, Celaena is finally going to kick Arobynn’s butt.

Everything, Everything - Nicola Yoon

Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon

hardcover: 320 pages

releasing September 1st, 2015 by Delacorte Books for Young Readers

This innovative, heartfelt debut novel tells the story of a girl who’s literally allergic to the outside world. When a new family moves in next door, she begins a complicated romance that challenges everything she’s ever known. The narrative unfolds via vignettes, diary entries, texts, charts, lists, illustrations, and more.

My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.

But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He’s tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.

Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster.

OMG this book sounds so interesting! Personally, I’m not one for the romance in this book. But that’s not why I decided to read this one. I feel like YA doesn’t really have a whole lot of variety in illnesses—otherwise it is romanticized. That is the only thing that is bugging me about this one, but other than that, give me your best shot, Everything Everything!

Dumplin' - Julie Murphy

Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy

hardcover: 384 pages

releasing September 15th, 2015 by Balzer + Bray

Self-proclaimed fat girl Willowdean Dickson (dubbed “Dumplin’” by her former beauty queen mom) has always been at home in her own skin. Her thoughts on having the ultimate bikini body? Put a bikini on your body. With her all-American beauty best friend, Ellen, by her side, things have always worked . . . until Will takes a job at Harpy’s, the local fast-food joint. There she meets Private School Bo, a hot former jock. Will isn’t surprised to find herself attracted to Bo. But she is surprised when he seems to like her back.

Instead of finding new heights of self-assurance in her relationship with Bo, Will starts to doubt herself. So she sets out to take back her confidence by doing the most horrifying thing she can imagine: entering the Miss Clover City beauty pageant—along with several other unlikely candidates—to show the world that she deserves to be up there as much as any twiggy girl does. Along the way, she’ll shock the hell out of Clover City—and maybe herself most of all.

With starry Texas nights, red candy suckers, Dolly Parton songs, and a wildly unforgettable heroine—Dumplin’ is guaranteed to steal your heart.

Honestly, I read the synopsis of this one and I fell in love. I’ve heard of books where people maybe want to work towards making their body “better”. This is the first book where I’ve heard about a girl who is beginning to become self-conscious and is going to prove to everyone that she can stay that way! Also the fact that she has a boyfriend who actually likes her for who she is, because I’ve kind of had enough of the “girl’s beauty is equivalent to Ms. Universe but her mirror has some defects and that’s why she can’t see it” so I have, once again, HIGH expectations from this one! Also, this is a standalone so I will be delivered all this greatness in one go.

The Scorpion Rules - Erin Bow

The Scorpion Rules by Erin Bows

hardcover: 384 pages

releasing September 22nd by Margaret K. McElderry Books

A world battered by climate shift and war turns to an ancient method of keeping peace: the exchange of hostages. The Children of Peace—sons and daughters of kings and presidents and generals—are raised together in small, isolated schools called Prefectures. There, they learn history and political theory, and are taught to gracefully accept what may well be their fate: to die if their countries declare war.

Greta Gustafsen Stuart, Duchess of Halifax and Crown Princess of the Pan-Polar Confederation, is the pride of the North American Prefecture. Learned and disciplined, Greta is proud of her role in keeping the global peace—even though, with her country controlling two-thirds of the world’s most war-worthy resource—water—she has little chance of reaching adulthood alive.

Enter Elián Palnik, the Prefecture’s newest hostage and biggest problem. Greta’s world begins to tilt the moment she sees Elián dragged into the school in chains. The Prefecture’s insidious surveillance, its small punishments and rewards, can make no dent in Elián, who is not interested in dignity and tradition, and doesn’t even accept the right of the UN to keep hostages.

What will happen to Elián and Greta as their two nations inch closer to war?

This is a standalone (from what I’ve heard) and these days, I’m really enjoying standalones because they’re . . . less stressful to read (you know what I mean?). So the premise of this book sounds like that there’s a lot to offer, since the world is so different and there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of romance in this one! Just . . . everything about this book sounds awesome to me! :D

Walk on Earth a Stranger - Rae Carson

Walk on Earth a Stranger by Rae Carson

hardcover: 432 pages

releasing September 22nd, 2015 by Greenwillow Books

The first book in a new trilogy from acclaimed New York Times bestselling author Rae Carson. A young woman with the magical ability to sense the presence of gold must flee her home, taking her on a sweeping and dangerous journey across Gold Rush–era America.

Lee Westfall has a secret. She can sense the presence of gold in the world around her. Veins deep beneath the earth, pebbles in the river, nuggets dug up from the forest floor. The buzz of gold means warmth and life and home—until everything is ripped away by a man who wants to control her. Left with nothing, Lee disguises herself as a boy and takes to the trail across the country. Gold was discovered in California, and where else could such a magical girl find herself, find safety? Rae Carson, author of the acclaimed Girl of Fire and Thorns trilogy, dazzles with this new fantasy that subverts both our own history and familiar fantasy tropes.

Walk on Earth a Stranger, the first book in this new trilogy, introduces—as only Rae Carson can—a strong heroine, a perilous road, a fantastical twist, and a slow-burning romance. Includes a map and author’s note on historical research.

Three things about this one: (1) I am a historical fiction nerd even if I don’t know a whole lot about that time period myself, (2) umm, gender-bending (duh, that’s like my all-time favorite trope) and (3) Rae Carson who has written one of my all-time favorites: The Girl of Fire and Thorns WROTE THIS *fangirls* so I am waiting for this book to come out! I want to read her new trilogy and worship her and stuff.  I think this author is amazing at world-building and making really in-depth characters, so I can’t wait to meet some new ones!

Six of Crows - Leigh Bardugo

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

hardcover: 480 pages

releasing September 29th, 2015 by Henry Holt and Company

Ketterdam: a bustling hub of international trade where anything can be had for the right price—and no one knows that better than criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker. Kaz is offered a chance at a deadly heist that could make him rich beyond his wildest dreams. But he can’t pull it off alone . . .

A convict with a thirst for revenge.

A sharpshooter who can’t walk away from a wager.

A runaway with a privileged past.

A spy known as the Wraith.

A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums.

A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes.

Six dangerous outcasts. One impossible heist. Kaz’s crew is the only thing that might stand between the world and destruction—if they don’t kill each other first.

This book sounds so badass, that I can’t even comprehend how badass it’s going to be. Also, Leigh Bardugo wrote The Grisha trilogy which isn’t my favorite, but was very enjoyable for me! I believe this is going to be a series, so I’m ready for that! I’ve heard that this book is based in the same world as The Grisha so I’m hoping to see more on how this world is after the events of Ruin and Rising! Maybe we’ll even get to see more characters in this one from The Grisha! I also really love heist themes in this book and characters that are familiar with street-smarts! I am. VERY. EXCITED. AS YOU CAN PROBABLY TELL.

Zeroes - Scott Westerfeld,Margo Lanagan,Deborah Biancotti

Zeroes by Scott Westerfeld, Margo Lanagan, and Deborah Biancotti

hardcover: 560 pages

releasing September 29th, 2015 by Simon Pulse

Ethan, aka “Scam,” has a way with words. When he opens his mouth, whatever he wants you to hear comes out. But Ethan isn’t just a smooth talker. He has a unique ability to say things he doesn’t consciously even know. Sometimes the voice helps, but sometimes it hurts—like now, when the voice has lied and has landed Ethan in a massive mess. So now Ethan needs help. And he needs to go to the last people who would ever want to help him—his former group of friends, the self-named “zeros” who also all possess similarly double-edged abilities, and who are all angry at Ethan for their own respective reasons. Brought back together by Scam’s latest mischief, they find themselves entangled in an epic, whirlwind adventure packed with as much interpersonal drama as mind-bending action.

I think this is a first in a new series! To be honest, I just looked at the title and cover and decided this was going to be cool. Also, like I mentioned above, I feel like this book may be a heist theme, and since the main character is known as Scam I want to see how he earned that name! I feel like the Zeroes may be a really cool group, and I haven’t really heard of anything like this one. I’m kind of going to jump into this without listening to reviews because I want to see what this could be for myself!

And that’s it! Let me know down below what you guys think about some of my anticipated releases for 2015! :D Thanks for reading!

August 2015 Anticipated Releases

Hey guys, so a while ago maybe in February or the end of January, I did a 2015 Anticipated Releases. But ever since I’ve done that list, I’ve found a lot more books that I’m interested in that are also coming out in 2015! So, I’ve decided to do a monthly anticipated reading list.

Now this doesn’t mean I’m going to be reading these books as soon as they come out, because I already have so many books to read! I may or may not to be able to read these books in those months! :D

So these are the books I want to read for his month:

Court of Fives by Kate Elliott

hardcover: 448 pages

releasing August 18th, 2015 by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers

In this imaginative escape into an enthralling new world, World Fantasy Award finalist Kate Elliott begins a new trilogy with her debut young adult novel, weaving an epic story of a girl struggling to do what she loves in a society suffocated by rules of class and privilege.

Jessamy's life is a balance between acting like an upper class Patron and dreaming of the freedom of the Commoners. But at night she can be whomever she wants when she sneaks out to train for The Fives, an intricate, multi-level athletic competition that offers a chance for glory to the kingdom's best competitors. Then Jes meets Kalliarkos, and an unlikely friendship between a girl of mixed race and a Patron boy causes heads to turn. When a scheming lord tears Jes's family apart, she'll have to test Kal's loyalty and risk the vengeance of a powerful clan to save her mother and sisters from certain death.

I am so excited for this book because I personally love books about rebellion and government issues, I don't specifically mean like dystopian novels, but anything with a little rebellion!

Also, the synopsis gives me a Hunger Games kind of feel (I know it's not the same, I just got the vibe) so I'm really looking forward to this one!

Another Day by David Levithan

hardcover: 300 pages

releasing August 25th, 2015 by Alfred A. Knopf Books for Young Readers

The eagerly anticipated companion to David Levithan’s New York Times bestseller Every Day

In this enthralling companion to his New York Times bestseller Every Day, David Levithan (co-author of Will Grayson, Will Grayson with John Green) tells Rhiannon’s side of the story as she seeks to discover the truth about love and how it can change you.

Every day is the same for Rhiannon. She has accepted her life, convinced herself that she deserves her distant, temperamental boyfriend, Justin, even established guidelines by which to live: Don’t be too needy. Avoid upsetting him. Never get your hopes up.

Until the morning everything changes. Justin seems to see her, to want to be with her for the first time, and they share a perfect day—a perfect day Justin doesn’t remember the next morning. Confused, depressed, and desperate for another day as great as that one, Rhiannon starts questioning everything. Then, one day, a stranger tells her that the Justin she spent that day with, the one who made her feel like a real person . . . wasn’t Justin at all.

I've been looking forward to reading Every Day for a really long time! I may or may not read that book this month, depending on my reading pile. Otherwise the goal is to read the first one before this book comes out!

I haven't really checked out David Levithan's other works and I'm really sure where to start, so I've decided to read his duology instead.

And that's it for this month! Only two releases, so I'm looking forward to that! Let me know some books you guys are looking forward this August! Thanks for reading this post everyone and hope you all have a great day!

The Darkest Part of The Forest by Holly Black
The Darkest Part of the Forest - Holly Black

Publication: January 2015

Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/20958632-the-darkest-part-of-the-forest

Summary: "Children can have a cruel, absolute sense of justice. Children can kill a monster and feel quite proud of themselves. A girl can look at her brother and believe they’re destined to be a knight and a bard who battle evil. She can believe she’s found the thing she’s been made for.

Hazel lives with her brother, Ben, in the strange town of Fairfold where humans and fae exist side by side. The faeries’ seemingly harmless magic attracts tourists, but Hazel knows how dangerous they can be, and she knows how to stop them. Or she did, once.

At the center of it all, there is a glass coffin in the woods. It rests right on the ground and in it sleeps a boy with horns on his head and ears as pointed as knives. Hazel and Ben were both in love with him as children. The boy has slept there for generations, never waking.

Until one day, he does…

As the world turns upside down, Hazel tries to remember her years pretending to be a knight. But swept up in new love, shifting loyalties, and the fresh sting of betrayal, will it be enough?"

My first Holly Black novel, she certainly does write amazing paranormal stand-alones! Honestly, I liked this one a lot more than I thought I would! I mean that in the best possible way.

The beginning kinda of set me off, because it was really slow, just re-telling the characters past but as you get more into the book you start loving it! The hole concept of the plot is entertaining and kept me on my feet, wanting to know what was gonna happen next.

This book is so much more than a mythical-looking boy waking up and escaping from the coffin. It tells all the Folk secrets and concepts as well as how the character are connected to them. Hazel is our main character. She has been dealing with the Folk (basically, faeries) for years, but she hasn't really known, due to a clause on a bargain she did once she was young. (Read the book and find out what the bargain was!)

This book is written entirely in third person, but we pretty much get the story from Hazel's (third person) perspective. I like the prospect of this, but feel like I didn't really connect with her in any especial way.

As usual what is a book without a little bit of romance? There is plenty of sweeping romance in this book. If you couldn't tell by now. Hazel is in love with her bothers best friend, Jack, who is a challenging. I really ship them btw! And her bother will fall in love with the horned boy.

Of corse none of these couples will have a quiet and simple journey to happiness, since there will be many bumps in the road.

There is a creature in Fairfold that must be stopped. The waking of the horned boy was no coincidence. Hazel, Ben (her brother), Jack, and the horned boy must stop the creature. A powerful sword, a faerie ritual, a crazed king... there is so much going on, that After a while I just didn't want to put this book down.

In conclusion I liked the story. At first, things were pretty slow, because Black was setting up the scene. The horned boy doesn't disappear in the first scene. There is a lot of switching back to scenes of the past in this book, but they are marked and very obvious, and don't last long.

I liked Hazel, honestly, but My favorite character was probably Jack, and then Severin (the horned boy).

This book is set in a contemporary world, it's definitely in modern times. But there is so much fantasy in this book, and it's billed as a fairy tale. Holly Black did an incredible job of constructing the world and putting in place all of the fantasy elements, in a modern world.

I enjoyed this book! Not one of my favorites, but definitely worth reading! Excellent work, Holly Black!
