How to Be an Assertive, Not Aggressive, Woman: A Total Guide to Self-Assertiveness in Life, in Love, and on the Job
How to Be an Assertive, Not Aggressive, Woman: A Total Guide to Self-Assertiveness in Life, in Love, and on the Job - Jean Baer You know what's depressing about this book? That so much of it is still relevant and how some of her assumptions of change never happened...

Speaking the Truth in Love - Kenneth C. Haugk I read this book as part of my Stephen Ministry training, but it is helpful information for everyday life as well. This book teaches assertiveness in our relationships and intereactions. As opposed to being passive (quiet, taken advantage of) or aggressive (mean, sarcastic), this book teaches a balanced way of reacting to anger, criticism, compliments, requests, and other areas of our life. I especially liked the many examples of dialog offered in this book which helped me identify areas where I could really apply what I was learning. Reading this book will help me as a counsellor and in all of my intereactions. I believe that anyone could benefit from the wisdom in this book. It is one that I will pick up and reference in the future as well.
