War and distrust surround their journey.
Undeniable Heart - Kara Griffin

This was the first book I read by Kara Griffin. It was an entertaining story with a real feel for the time. Dallis was resourceful and a survivor, and I enjoyed her determination as things went along. Brodin's past made him a cautious person, but I liked how he trusted Dallis (even when he shouldn't) from the start and how open he was to forgive.

I received an ARC as a gift, and this was a Book Obsessed Chicks Star Review Team read. This is my unsolicited review.

Love overcomes tragedy, helps move on. Enjoyed this journey.
London's Wicked Affair - Anabelle Bryant

Lunden was such a broken man. My heart went out to him. He needed to find out that love may hurt but was a necessity. I loved Amelia's determination to find her own husband and to torment her brother somewhat for his choices for her. Her views were based on what she saw around her, including the bad. Amelia and Lunden connected so strongly, but neither recognized it for what it was. The secondary characters also need healing and made the story that much better. I look forward to Matthew and Charlotte finding their respective HEAs (hopefully they will come). I recommend this story, and I look forward to more in this series.

I received an ARC of this story through Netgalley, and it is also a Book Obsessed Chicks Review Team selection. This is my unsolicited review.

Story shrouded in darkness, just the way Kerrigan Byrne can do it so well.
The Duke with the Dragon Tattoo - Kerrigan Byrne

This story had me turning pages furiously from the very beginning. So much pain, darkness, and misery could not stand up to the light of Lorelai's innocence, caring, and persistence. Ash/the Rook was such an empty man, but I loved how he knew from the start that Lorelai belonged to him, was his safety, his reason for living, though he was unable to voice it. Their love changed both of them but for the better. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story and could not put it down. I highly recommend it.

Slow start but had me racing to the end.
False Start (McKay-Tucker Men Book 1) - Marianne Rice

This is the first book I have read by this author. It took a bit to get into the story, but once there, I did not want to put it down. Meg had been through a lot, and I understood her hesitancy to let someone into her life. She had an hard shell covering her broken center. I loved her interactions with her daughter and Connor. Connor was a sweetheart, although he was not very communicative. He was full of reaction before thought. They made a great couple and had me laughing, crying, and sighing throughout the story.

This is my unsolicited review.

Emotional ride for me. A story that pulled at me.
How to Tempt an Earl - Tina Gabrielle

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Grace and Ian had to deal with undesirable situations for themselves. Coming together helped each other as well as some in their immediate circle. I loved Grace's determination and hope that things would improve. Ian's misplaced guilt kept him a bit cold, but when things became clearer for him, I cheered. This story had me laughing, cringing, and crying. I highly recommend this book.
