Booklikesopoly: Turn #9

Bank: $58

Available wildcards: 2

I finished Robert Jackson Bennett's City of Stairs for Square 10 (author's first or last name begins with any of the letters in BEACH), which netted me $5. My next roll:

That puts me on Square 17:

17. Why? Read a book that is non-fiction or a book with the word "why" in the title.

I'm not in a non-fiction mood right now, and my LibraryThing catalog tells me that "books with the word 'why' in the title" limits me to just two:

- Tell Me Why by Stella Cameron

- Belka, Why Don't You Bark? by Hideo Furukawa

I just checked the descriptions for both of these, and I have no desire to read either one. It looks like I'm going to be using one of the two wildcards I've managed to save. Now I just have to figure out what sort of book I'm in the mood to read... Both of the wildcards were courtesy of the Cat square, meaning I can literally choose whatever I'd like. I hate to say it, but it's almost too much. Eh, I'll figure something out.

Reading progress update: I've read 452 out of 452 pages.
City of Stairs - Robert Jackson Bennett

I suspect I'll forget large chunks of this book relatively soon, but that doesn't mean I disliked it. I'd like to read the next book at some point. That said, I'm annoyed at what happened to one particular character. I didn't actually like him very much, but he didn't deserve what happened to him.

And with this I earn another $5 in Booklikesopoly and get what will probably be my last chance to roll.

Booklikesopoly: Turn #8, mercifully uncomplicated

Bank: $53

Available wildcards: 2

Mia and the Forbidden Medicine Report was my "book with an article of clothing pictured on the cover." My next roll:

I've narrowly avoided visiting jail and ended up on Square 10. The requirement:

10. Read a book that appears on any beach reads list or a book whose author's first or last name begins with any letter in B-E-A-C-H.

Oh nice, something fairly broad. I think I'm going to go with the latter part of this. Now I just have to figure out what sort of book I'm in the mood to read. Some possibilities:

- So I'm a Spider, So What? Vol. 1 by Okina Baba: Do I want to risk another bad light novel? At least Yen On's editing seems to be decent compared to Cross Infinite World.

- Precursor by C.J. Cherryh: Although it may leave me with a desire to read the book after it, and I can't guarantee that the game will oblige me.

- Warprize by Elizabeth Vaughan

- Fire by Kristin Cashore

Eh, I'll have to think about it. I think I might be in the mood for a mystery. Maybe it's time for book 3 in Rosie Claverton's Amy Lane series? Or something by Agatha Christie?
