good book and characters
Served Cold (Best Revenge) - Marie Harte

In HS Jack and Ann were always together. But then Jack chose to break up with Ann in the cafeteria in front of everyone to break up with Ann for the class floozie. Ann was devastated. What Jack and Ann didn’t know  others worked together to break Jack and Ann up and making Jack believe Ann had cheated on him.   Around twelve years later Jack moved back to town and was staying. Jack had never got over Ann.Jack wants to get reacquainted  with Ann. Ann and Jack had no contact since he broke up with her. Ann just happens to be Jack’s nephews elementary school teacher. One night as Ann and her three best friends Maya and Riley were having someone they talked about Ann seeing Jack again, get him to fall for her and then dump him. Ann thought revenge would be good.  Ann feels she needs closure and to know what had happened to make Jack dump her and the way he did it. Jack and Ann’s chemistry started right back up when they got together. Jack also knew he wanted Ann back. Ann really tries for revenge but she is really too nice of a person. Also Ann finds she isn’t over Jack. But then Jack finds out the real reason Ann had started seeing him again but also why she had needed him so much before he had dumped her.

I really enjoyed reading this book . I loved the plot and pace. I really liked Jack and Ann together. I liked how Jack wined and dined Ann to try to get her back. I didn’t like how Jack and Ann made it seem what happened back in HS wasn’t really that bad. I really liked how Maya is blackmailed again to date Dex. There was a little too much sex in this for me. I did laugh while reading this. I also loved the twists and turns and the characters and I recommend. I wish I could have rated this 4.5

Served Cold (Best Revenge) by Marie Harte
Served Cold (Best Revenge) - Marie Harte

Triple trouble has arrived and the what if's are about to hit the fan. Move over Carrie Bradshaw and  make room some fierce female competition.  Sisterhood just got a whole lot nuclear. Served Cold is like the best road trip ever, except it happens standing still.  Ann, Maya and Riley are forces of nature that are sisters of the heart with one common objective.  Don't get mad, get even.  Jack, Dex and Anson are about meet the new and improved triple threat and their hearts may not survive the blow.  Marie Harte is phenomenal at dreaming up strong minded and over the top female characters and this time around she brings along the laughter to tempt her way into the heart.

Revenge Served Cold
Revenge Served Cold - Jackie Fullerton Kathy Spence has been extremely depressed, due to an botched abortion in college she is unable to conceive a baby with her husband, the love of her life, and she finds comfort in a bottle or two of wine nightly. She almost drinks herself into a coma after receiving a distressing anonymous package, when she is awakened in the middle of the night by the police who inform her that her beloved husband as been killed by a hit-and run. An eye witness and damage to her vehicle make her the number one suspect.

Terrified, she calls her friend Shirley, who works with Anna Marshall, an amateur sleuth. Shirley asks Anne to help prove that her friend Kathy did not kill her husband. The police think they have an open and shut case, so they are not even investigating, so Anne, her friends, and the ghost of Anne's father waste no time trying to find the real killer.

I may be in the minority here, but I really didn't like this book. To start with I didn't know that this was the second book in a series. The first book in the series was called Piercing The Veil by Jacqueline Fullerton, I probably would have enjoyed this book more if I had read that book first. The are so many references to the previous book in this book, connecting the characters, and explaining the ghost, that I really felt lost at times.

Also "the bad guys" are revealed almost at the start of the book, so there really is no mystery, it is more about Anne rehashing things with her friends and keeping things from the police, the police are made to look like bumbling idiots, when Anne feeds them another elementary clue. The only suspense was near the end of the book, when Anne refuses to listen to her friends and gets caught in the murderers hotel room and is driven off into the woods and chased by the murderer.

The thing I liked best about the book was the ghost, Anne's father, who only she could see and hear, but he smoked a pipe and everyone could smell the tobacco. It added a little humor to the story, things he could do were pretty far-fetched, but it did show the great bond between a father and a daughter.

You may enjoy this story but be sure to read Piercing The Veil first. If we all liked the same thing life would be pretty boring, this story just didn't suit me.

Read an excerpt:

He brought the photo closer so he could stare at the woman. She appeared to be in her mid-forties, a brunette with hazel eyes that looked amusingly at the photographer. She came up to her husband’s chin. The husband was a graying brunet and while her son had inherited her eye color, he was blond. McLaren had no time to comment on this.

Linnet said, “The others…” She leaned forward, her left arm bent and supporting her, and tapped each photo as she mentioned their names. “The group shot is Marta, her boss, and the vet for the shelter. This…” She skipped over the others in the photograph and pointed to the woman to the extreme left. “That’s Verity Dwyer.”

“The wrongly suspected coworker.” The woman in the photo had auburn hair that shone in the sunlight; her blue eyes smiled at him. Linnet nodded. “Yes. Suspected of killing Marta, though that wasn’t proved. But she was convicted of stealing money from the shelter. She’s three months into her sentence. She was… Oh, it’s extremely involved.”

“I’ve got more time than money. Tell me.”
