Dastardly Deeds: A Nell Forrest Mystery 4 - Ilsa Evans

#DASTARDLY DEEDS  4 STARS!  AVAILABLE 3/10/16  @IlsaEvans  @panmacmillan

Aww a relaxing cruise. That's just what Nell Forrest thought she needed. Until she realized that her ex-husband and his new bride were going to be there. Then to top it off, her ex-boyfriend was going to be there as well. As if that were not enough, someone is murdering the passengers on board. This was certainly not the relaxation that Nell was looking for. She already knew her mother (ugh) and her sometimes cumbersome younger children were going to be there. She could easily hide from them. But the rest. This was going to be a LONG cruise.

Filled with fun and entertaining little chuckles, the expectations of a cozy mystery and a few surprising moments along the way, I just sat back and relished that I was along the cruise myself. Some of the characters were so silly, you couldn't help but laugh at them and be glad you weren't hanging with them. The story was excellently told, the suspects were all over the place, the list was long, and the characters were perfectly formed, while some had many flaws.

I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more by this author. If you like cozies, this is definitely one that should be on your list!

Thanks to Momentum (Pan MacMillan) for approving my request and to Net Galley for providing me with a free e-galley in exchange for an honest review. I spent a very enjoyable afternoon with these characters and enjoyed seeing the bad person getting theirs in the end.

This Is Not A Game - Walter Jon Williams

I haven't just read this, I read it a few years ago, but I did just remember about it because I'm all into my video games right now. It really was a disappointment. That's the main thing I remember about it. One of those books that reminds you why gaming sucks. Full of meritocratic, tech-worshipping, culturally imperialist arseholes. Anyway, I added it to my shelf to remind me of why books about gamers are much less interesting even than fluff novels set in the worlds of games, which I actually often enjoy.

The Body in the Library - Agatha Christie

I've been getting my crime fix from the telly in the main recently so going back to Christie is feeling great. I had forgotten what an absolute wicked joy her prose is quite apart from the quality of the mysteries.
