[Book Review] Sweet Revenge
Sweet Revenge: Passive-Aggressive Desserts for Your Exes & Enemies - Heather Kim

Sometimes I'll pick a book up just for it's title or it's cover.  If it's a cookbook we're talking about with the promise of gratuitous puns, well, I'm pretty sold.

The book delivers on promised tone and puns both, fun, snarky, and well explained.  The recipes veer into the unexpected, with the inclusion of various snack foods such as Doritos and Hot Cheetos as part of the flavor, texture, or highlight of sweet treats.  But even if you're conservative when it comes to flavor combinations, there's plenty for you here, and a number of recipes you can make a more traditional version of by simply sidestepping the inclusion of the salty munchie in question.

A fun addition to your cookbook collection, and if you're in a library one I think that will definitely circulate on amusement value alone.

'Just Desserts' was just yummy!...
Just Desserts (Tales of the Curious Cookbook) - Mary Calmes,Greg Tremblay

So being a good girl I saved my dessert for last and it was worth every yummy last bite. I've come to the end of the road with this series and while I enjoyed them all...yes, some more than others but still I was glad I listened to them all.

These stories aren't connected by the place or character...no they're connected by a cookbook...a cookbook that contains not just recipes but recipes that bring magic into the lives of the people who make them and eat them. In 'Just Desserts' the curious cookbook offers a recipe for chocolate mousse to Boone Walton and his best friend, chef Scott Wren as they find their way from friends to lovers. I loved these two men and their story. It ticked all my hot spots and throw in Greg Tremblay as the narrator and of course it was a surefire win for me.

Diabetic Desserts
20 Awesome Diabetic Desserts!!: Enjoy These Desserts Recipes Without Increasing Your Blood Sugar!!! - Levi So

My father and father-in-law have diabetes. My youngest and I love to bake. We collect cookbooks. Best cookbooks are free cookbooks. We can read them, mark recipes we want to try, handwrite them onto a recipe card and then make the recipe.

I found several recipes that I want to try in this book. My dad once said that he misses having pies and cakes, but he is very good about following his diet. My father-in-law, not so much, so this can be good for making him a cake for his birthday.

I marked several recipes that my daughter and I will try and experiment with and I look forward to that time. Baking/Cooking are science and math and bonding time.

This is a good book for anyone who has someone they love with diabetes, it may just be good for anyone who just wants to cut the sugar out of their lives.
