On Fire
On Fire (Shadow Stalkers #4) - Sylvia Day
Darcy is a fire inspector in a small town investigating a series of arson incidents. Each is a place that Darcy is tied to in some way. After the third, she calls in for help. Jared, a Deputy Marshal arrives and is hot on the case. Insta-lust also flares up.
This was decent. Very heavy on the sex, but it also had a plot. I liked Darcy's vocation, different for a change. She also saved herself towards the end, so mad props to that. Jared was also likable, and I liked that he had moments where he was distracted.
I would have liked more on the mystery and Danielle. The suspense element could have been better. Everything was wrapped up, but *more* would have been wonderful. The "why" was lacking IMO. But, this did have halfway decent plot to all the sex that was happening on the page.

Slow start to this morning, this was the only book I finished for the readathon.

#Dewey Readathon, Fall 2017: Updates
Sleight of Paw - Sofie Kelly

Update #2:

With less than 10 minutes to go before the end of this Dewey, I managed to read four more books, all for Halloween bingo. Feeling pretty good on my reading productivity, however I did not make my goal of twelve hours (my stopwatch is at 8 hours:28 minutes:54 seconds).

Now onto the reviews of the five books I finished during the read-a-thon and reporting on my bingos.

***************************************************************************************************

Update #1:

Mid-way through hour 11 and I have about 4 hours of reading done today. Sleight of Paw is done and now I just earned my second bingo! Now to focus on some graphic novels. I need to go to bed too, so I will probably take a break at the hour 13 mark.

As for participation in the social aspects of the read-a-thon, I posted twice in the GR group for the hour 11 thread because I knew JL would be co-hosting.

**********************************************************************************************

 Original Post:

Happy 10th Anniversary to the Dewey 24-hour Read-a-thon and its creators!

First book up to bat: Sleight of Paw by Sofie Kelly (starting at 50% mark)

Hour Zero: Introduction Q&A

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?

Brandon, Suffolk (East Anglia) England

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?

DC Bombshells Volumes 1 and 2

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?

Whatever is going in my crock pot for dinner

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!

Going to spend one hour of the read-a-thon reading to my kids. Currently they have fallen into a Mo Willems binge and my son has memorized We Are In A Book. Maybe a few Halloween books.

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today?

Nap if needed rather than reaching for another caffeine drink.

Day 9 Spines - another IG post from COYER Summer 2017 edition https://www.instagram.com/p/BXtcs5LhArT/?taken-by=tearainbook

Day 8 Funny - Is it Just Me? by Miranda Hart (and it is a shame she isn't more loved by folks in the US)

Day 7 Sad - The Mercy of the Sky by Holly Bailey (the part when she wrote of the rescue and recovery at the elementary school killed me)

Day 6 Time - Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson (a great middle grade book about a yellow fever epidemic in Philadelphia)

Day 5 Place - The Dilemma of Charlotte Farrow by Olivia Newport (Chicago during the World's Fair)

Day 4 Plans - my bedroom will be center stage for my reading - it is the only place I can get some quiet.

Day 3 Break - I plan on taking a break to sleep. A short catnip can give the reader a better recharge than drinking caffeine. I plan to get a few hours over the course of the read-a-thon.

Day 2 New - Saga series by Brian Kl Vaughan and Fiona Staples

Day 1 Stack - Books by Michael Lewis I have read and recommend:

                       Moneyball

                       Liar's Poker

                       The Big Short

                       Boomerang

                       Flash Boys
