Dishonor Thy Wife
Dishonor Thy Wife - Belinda Austin Dishonor Thy Wife - Belinda Austin "ARC kindly provided in exchange for an honest review."

4.5 Stars

WOW was this was one awesome read...

description

This actually took me a bit to get into. I'm not usually crazy about first person narrative. It always seems to take me longer to connect with the characters, but about 15% into reading it really hit it's stride and I COULD NOT put this sucker down! It's told in a dual POV (Wife/Husband) until about 32% when a third POV is added in.

This was a ride for sure. I had an inkling to what was going on early in the book, but the twists and turns kept me turning the pages. I didn't find any of the characters particularly likable, but that was OK because they were interesting and well developed and I don't always have to "like" my main characters to enjoy a book. The plot itself was well written and flowed nicely. I never felt the need to skim. The only SMALL issue I had, was after the main "storyline" was wrapped up I felt that the remainder of the book dragged on a tiny bit too long. I was happy to see a HEA for two of the characters but thought they could have reached that point a tiny bit sooner.

That being said, that was just a tiny complaint and overall I LOVED most everything about this one. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Lord of Dishonor
Lord of Dishonor - Edith Layton I did enjoy this book. It had the hurt, hard feeling rake with the innocent, loyal and loving heroine. It is a second release first printed back in 1984 I think..at still a good story today!

Loved it!
The Milliner's Secret: An epic and heart-wrenching love story set in wartime Paris - Natalie Meg Evans

Just finished and it was more than I expected. The writing, character development and suspenseful moments made for a thrilling read. I will definitely have to go back and reread this. It was a long book and I know I didn't get all the little details.

I highly recommend.

Field of Dishonor (Honor Harrington # 4) [Audiobook] - Get your tissues ready
Field of Dishonor - David Weber

For my thoughts on characters, plot, etc., please check out my review here.

Still enjoying Madelyn Buzzard's reading of these books and this one is extremely emotional, so her voice and how she interprets the characters are important. No matter how many times I read this or the fact I know it's coming, the death that changes everything still chokes me up.

BookaDay - Day 8
First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson Series #1) - Darynda Jones
The Bride - Julie Garwood
A Civil Campaign - Lois McMaster Bujold
One for the Money - Janet Evanovich
Field of Dishonor - David Weber

Never fails to cheer me up

Not all the books on this list are "funny", but they all make me feel happy deep inside.

First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson, Book 1) - Darynda Jones  - Is flat out hysterical. And an awesome start to a series that also manages to have a deep mytharc and still maintain the funny.

The Bride - Julie Garwood  - The first historical romance that I was thought was actually funny  Yes, Heyer wrote some really witty comedy-of-manners books, but this one was LOL funny.

A Civil Campaign - Lois McMaster Bujold - The entire Miles Vorkosigan saga has a permanent place on my All Time Favorites of Everything shelf. Miles is my favorite fictional character, hands down. The whole series is a fantastic space opera romp, but this one is the one that sparkles.  The dinner party scene is worht the price of the book.

One for the Money - Janet Evanovich - When these first came out, I ate them up with a spoon.  This first one is cry-out-loud funny.  While I really can't stand the series anymore, I remember the first six or so extremely fondly.

Field of Dishonor - David Weber - this book is not funny.  Not even a little bit. But it cheers me up because it features one of my favorite women in fiction, Honor Harrington, at her most Badass! Sometimes you need the fist-pumping excitement of someone making justice happen by being Righteously Awesome.  And knowing how to shoot people.
