When I was given the opportunity to read this book for an r2r, I really was unsure what to think. I have had a battle with weight my entire life and have read so many books that promise you the world - and this book, if you read the book description on Amazon - does, in fact, promise you that. I also get tired of reading books by people who have been thin their whole lives and don't know what it's like, how hard it is. I took a look at the reviews (some good, some bad) and finally decided to give it a chance.
I have to say that I'm glad I did. Even though a lot of the information is stuff that I already knew (I've done a lot of research on this stuff myself), he makes it simple, interesting and motivational. He even sets up a 4 week plan for you - including menu, shopping list and exercise routine (three options depending on how active you've been lately). He gives you the steps that you need and the items on the menu don't look that bad. He also mentions something that a lot of these diet books don't - he mental aspect of it, not just the physical, and explains why you have been failing in the past.
Two things I'd like to mention are:
1) He mentions his website a couple of times. And yes this website has membership. I was warned about this in a review (I believe this person referred to this book as an infomercial for the website), but it was only a few references and it was an addition to the information we were receiving, an extra tool in the arsenal of weight loss. A lot of weight loss books - self-help books in general - do this, either with a website, a blog, a workbook, a second and third book. He provides the first 4 weeks in this book and you can go to the website for more information. I checked out the website and found that the membership is actually $12 a month, if you sign up with your email address you can get the first week free and you have access to the blog (from what I looked at, it's full of information) without signing up for anything.
2) The menu, shopping list and exercise routines are a little hard to see on the paperwhite. You can get it on the website, but you can also open up the book on your laptop or tablet and see it just fine (I did this on both my laptop and iPad).
Note: I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
