Review: Fighting Dirty (Ice Kings #5) by: Stacey Lynn
Fighting Dirty - Stacey Lynn

Fighting Dirty by Stacey Lynn

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fighting Dirty is a slippery ride to smooth sailing. Klaus and Jillian were a work in progress that took more than a few detours in finding their hearts. Lynn stirs up temptation that is both heartwarming and addictive. So much so that your heart refuses to walk away until the last page has been devoured.

Book shopping in Austin
One Piece, Vol. 20: Showdown at Alubarna - Eiichiro Oda
Dias De Perros (Diario de Greg) - Jeff Kinney,Esteban Moran
John Adams - Page Smith
John Maynard Keynes: Volume 3: Fighting for Freedom, 1937-1946 - Robert Skidelsky

Today my son and I took our usual Texas vacay pass through the Half Price Bookstores in Austin. We made some choice discoveries considering that we had visited them less than three months ago. My son found some One Piece manga he was looking for, as well as some Weird Al Yankovic CDs (because he's into parody songs now). Best of all, he found some Spanish-language editions of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, which I was more than happy to buy for him.

For myself, my biggest find was a two-volume set of Page Smith's biography of John Adams, which I have been searching for lately. I also picked up a copy of the third volume of Skidelsky's Keynes biography, which I already own but was for sale for too low a price to pass up.

The most interesting find, though, was when I saw these on a turnstyle:

Until I saw these volumes, I wasn't even aware that this series existed. The volumes look extremely intriguing, especially for better understanding some of the people I cover in class. I purchased the one on Edwards, and if the prices in these are indicative I will probably add a few more to my collection before I'm done.

Reading progress update: I've read 191 out of 368 pages.
Fighting Churchill, Appeasing Hitler: Neville Chamberlain, Sir Horace Wilson, & Britain's Plight of Appeasement: 1937-1939 - Adrian Phillips

On Tuesday I realized that my recent binging on Star Wars media led me to miss my deadline to review Phillips's book, so I'm working frantically to get caught up. Fortunately it's proving an easy read, and I should be able to send something off by the end of the week.

Fighting For Her (Wilde Ways #5) - Cynthia Eden

I cannot say enough about how much I love this series. Intense. Passionate. Filled with action and drama. Great characters and each one has a captivating plot. I love it.  I want more. I want Cole's story and Ghost's story. Rick was a firefighter with Julia, and so we already know his backstory, and I was so excited to read his own adventure and love story. Kat is a material witness in a mob related court case and she has to get there alive, something no one connected to her dead mod boss father wants to happen.  Enter Wilde securities.  The FBI has a leak and it is up to Rick to keep her alive for one week until her trial.  Their chemistry was off the charts the moment they meet in Eric’s office.  Rick's problem comes in that Kat is intent on running to keep everyone else alive. The back and forth the two take part in in the beginning was fun to watch; she knew how to get under his skin.  Every second was great and there were some nice surprises along the way.  I highly recommend the series.

5 Star Fighting
Fighting For Her (Wilde Ways #5) - Cynthia Eden

He’s an agent with Wilde Securities, he’s big, bad and not someone you want to have as an enemy, but Rick Williams’ cases don’t usually involve him protecting someone like her. She’s the daughter of an infamous mob boss who make sure she was locked away from the world and now Kathleen O’Shaughnessy is out on her own and the target of every enemy that her father made in his very long career.

It’s obvious from the very first meeting between Rick and Kathleen that they have some serious chemistry going on and that these two strong, bold characters are going delight readers with an enjoyable reading experience. Their romance starts off with sparks flying in every direction as Kathleen proceeds to tell Rick and everyone else that she’s not going to be miss meek and quiet. Delightful, chuckle inducing clashes between these two are spread throughout the story along with steamy passion and emotional turbulence and readers can’t help but feel as if they are part of their story as the Rick does his best to protect the spitfire.

The plot is faced paced and full of thrilling excitement as Rick and Kathleen barely stay one step ahead of the bad guys and the suspense begins to build as it soon becomes obvious that they can’t trust anyone. The danger escalates with lots of hair raising and nail biting events along with some unexpected twists which ensures that readers can’t possibly figure out who exactly wants her dead and who wants her alive and readers definitely don’t want to miss one second of this thrill-a-minute read.
