Review: "Doctor Without Borders" (Groves' Anatomy, #4) by Scarlet Cox
Doctor Without Borders - Scarlet Cox

"You can't just... have sex with patients!"

"I can." Groves slid to his feet like a panther and circled Adam's desk. "And I'm going to have sex with you, Adam."

Yep, I'm giving a PWP four and half stars. Not because the writing or the plot (*snorts*) were such a revelation, but for what this was, - and let's say it together: "FILTHY PORN!" - it was perfectly fine.

Scarlet Cox managed to squeeze so much kink into only 26 pages that it was a true pleasure to read:

  • BDSM light
  • bondage
  • breath play
  • D/s
  • exhibitionism
  • first time gay virgin
  • GFY (it's ok when it's porn, put down your pitchforks!)
  • humiliation
  • spanking

And one my favorite tropes: THE AGE-GAP, with one of the MCs being in his early 30s whereas his boss (!!!) was a 57-year-old. *insert record scratch*

Awwwwww yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaah!

Another point: this was shockingly good writing for a PWP:

"He was so used to being in a position of authority that having someone strip him of his dignity and reduce him to a fuck toy was astoundingly, shamefully hedonistic."

Also kudos for the use of "fuck stick" as a euphemism for cock. Never heard that one before and I immediately fell in love with it.

So yeah, I was in fap heaven. FAP, I SAY.

This was honestly entertaining as fuck, so pulpy and fun.

And HAWT. You can only read this book while sitting alone and listening to Prince.

Review: "How to Train Your Dom in Five Easy Steps" by Josephine Myles
How to Train Your Dom in Five Easy Steps - Josephine Myles

"Was it possible for your dick to be gay, even if the rest of you wasn't?"

Guyyys, this book was BLOODY FANTASTIC and full of surprises!

First, let me tell you that I'm a total wuss when it comes down to those hardcore kinks in my books. I can handle the common BDSM scenes (spanking, flogging, even fisting when it's well-written), but I have a hard time when it comes to the really extreme stuff, like sounding, needle play or blood play.

So when I found out that the MCs, Jeff and Eddie, defined themselves as being a "sadist" and a "painslut", I was a little bit worried. But thankfully the humiliation kink and pain play were kept at a quite tolerable level. Nothing of the above-mentioned extremes to be found here, just your BDSM 101 basics.

The other thing that I wasn't expecting was how very romantic the story would turn out to be in the last 20%. Jeff was such a wonderful character. Stubborn and completely in denial at first about his attraction towards Eddie, and yet his "I'm not gay" shtick never once became annoying or frustrating, which is owed to the superb writing from Josephine Myles. I couldn't help but smile at how much attention he paid to the little things to woo Eddie and how he - once he finally admitted to himself that he really and truly fell for a man and that he absolutely wanted to be with Eddie - completely turned his life around.

So this book took one of my favorite tropes, the "fuck buddies to lovers" trope, and completely delivered. It was such a perfect mixture of funny, kinky, filthy, emotional, romantic, sweet and sexy. I'm a happy camper.

DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED!

Thanks to Marte for the BR!

Review: "Hooch & Cake" (Special Delivery, #1.5) by Heidi Cullinan
Hooch & Cake - Heidi Cullinan

"You call me Sunshine, but you're my star, Mitch Tedsoe. I love you, and I always will, forever and ever."

I know this is the story of Sam and Mitch's wedding, but Randy definitely stole their thunder. Again! Even Sam has to agree with me:

"You're the reason we figured out how to be together. You're the reason we didn't get married at the courthouse and fucked on the couch to christen the union. But even outside of that, you're part of us too, Randy. I married Mitch, but I love you too. We both do."

I hope that Sam and Mitch will at least make their marriage work on their own, without any help from Randy. But I have my doubts.

Review: "Special Delivery" (Special Delivery, #1) by Heidi Cullinan
Special Delivery - Heidi Cullinan

"I call you Sunshine because when you smile, the sun comes out."

I'm a monogamy slut. There, I said it.

I'm not a fan of (sexual) ménages, three-ways or open relationships in my books. It's too much out of my comfort zone.

I want it all in my romances: the emotional connection between two soulmates, the "I want you and only you for as long as I live", the riding-into-the-sunset-together.

But leave it to Heidi Cullinan and my love for her writing and her characters that she made me believe that this kind of thing is not only what Sam and Mitch wanted, but it's what they needed.

Sam needs someone who understands his humiliation kink, his desire to feel like a dirty slut and and at the same time makes him not feel ashamed about it. Whereas Mitch needs someone who not only understands his voyeurism kink and his dark and dirty desires, but who also doesn't judge him for it. So BOOM - match made in heaven.

I admit, I will NEVER EVER be comfortable with statements like

"You could fuck six men in a row and let me watch or not, and I wouldn't care. To be honest, it really turns me on."

But that's just me and if it works for them, then

One word about Randy. A lot of my friends hated him in this book, so I was prepared to dislike him too. But he turned out to be my favorite character. I found him funny as fuck and I always have a soft spot for snarky and cynical characters. And it was him who turned out to be the catalyst that made Sam and Mitch recognize how much they needed each other and brought them together in the end.

The only thing I didn't like was

the proposal. It really was a "WTF? Seriously?" moment for me. Sam and Mitch have only been on a 10 day road trip together, and after that they haven't seen each other for months. That proposal came way too early and it was a little too much.

(spoiler show)

So I definitely enjoyed this book and I can't wait to read Randy's story next.

Thanks to Julie for the BR.

Detail Man: One man's descent into Humiliation and Servitude
Detail Man: One man's descent into Humil... Detail Man: One man's descent into Humiliation and Servitude - P.J. Watson I was looking for something spank-worthy and sexy. This was not it. The vile cruelty killed it for me. There was unfortunately very little eroticism. This was basically all domestic violence and hatred. This one rubbed me the wrong way. I'm a fan of this genre but one just didn't work for me. All I could think of was letting the poor guy die. Just killing the Dr., his daughter and his faithless wife. The way everyone turned on him is deplorable. There is nothing sexy about this book and I was unable to masturbate to it at all. What's the point of reading this one if it isn't spank-worthy? Quite a disappointment.
