Great Story and Characters
The Wicked Vampire (Last True Vampire series) - Kate Baxter

Sasha Ivanov was born to be wild. A vampire party girl, she stalks the L.A. clubs at night. Dancing. Drinking. Indulging her darkest appetites. Never sated, she’s always looking for more: more danger, more excitement, more blood. But when she enters a supernatural fight club—and is tethered to her mortal enemy—Sasha realizes she’s playing the most dangerous game of all…Ewan Brún was born to kill vampires. A powerful berserker and unbeaten champion, he doesn’t need a weapon to be deadly. He is the weapon. But when his soul becomes captive to the most beautiful vampire he’s ever seen, he is all but powerless. He cannot resist Sasha—and cannot fight his desires. Is their love strong enough to defeat the gathering forces of darkness that threatens to destroy them both?

I really liked this book. The author did a great job of mixing hot sex scenes, an unwanted pairing and an eventual love. I loved watching Ewan slowly finding his heart and Sasha accepting her feelings. I highly recommend.

DNF The Wicked Vampire
The Wicked Vampire (Last True Vampire series) - Kate Baxter

It’s bern nearly two months since I last picked this book up and current have no desire to finish it. While there are some deliciously steamy sex scenes the plot seems repetitive in the I love you but I hate you theme. It’s not badly written or anything it’s just not doing anything for me personally right now.

Thank you Netgalley and St Martin’s Press for the review copy.

Good Stories and Characters
In Mood Fur Love - Kate Baxter,Eve Langlais,Milly Taiden

Three hot stories about sexy shifters from a trio of today's hottest paranormal romance authors, headlined by bestselling authors Eve Langlais and Milly Taiden.

This is a shifter anthology by some of the top paranormal authors today. I’ve read stories by each author so I had a pretty good idea of their writing styles. I’m not a huge short-story person, but the authors’ names were what made me want to read this. Each story was decent and for the most part, well-paced. Milly Taiden’s was by far my favorite story. I recommend for anyone that likes these authors or this genre.

In Mood Fur Love - Kate Baxter,Eve Langlais,Milly Taiden

The first one was enjoyable. The pace was good until the very end. Once Vlad is dead and they wake up back at his parents place, the relationship that started out steady and authentic rushed like the author had to suddenly end the story. It was like the moment she was safe her personality completely changed and she became more aggressive. She came on strong and he just followed, where for most of the book, he was the aggressor and she followed. I got the feeling that the author had to suddenly end the story and in a blink she did. I would have preferred him to be the one to make the final move once she was safe. The role reversal made the whole story kind of lose it for me. And I don’t understand the whole tranquilizer part at the end on the roof. Why did her grandpa want both of them shot with tranquilizers when the danger was over? It didn't make much sense at that point and to the end.  Other than that, it was good.

Book 2 was quick. It moved fast and definitely had a middle of a series vibe.  It also has a novella feel to it, but the concept and conflict were good.  The character development was good, though some things were clearly already established prior to page one.  I liked it but I would have liked a bit more build up and a few things explained more.  I didn’t realize she knew about shifters from the beginning, so I wasn’t sure how that was going to play out. The reader definitely needs to go in knowing some things which made it hard to fall in love with, because I did feel like I was missing out on some important information.

Book three in the anthology I think was my favorite of the three.  It hadz strong characters, an entertaining plot, the conflict was believable and carried the story.  They definitely had some emotional tension to work out before they could have a happily ever after.  Their chemistry was strong and well developed and there was plenty of passion. Overall, best of the three stories all the way around and enjoyable.

Thanks Fur Last Night - Kate Baxter,Eve Langlais,Milly Taiden

Bearing His Sin

The first one started out interesting with characters that are strong right off the bat. The banter between the two main characters and the grandmother was great. But then the female lead started going back and forth in the same breath. One second she is mentioning not giving in and then she is saying put a ring on it right afterward. The back and forth as to whether she was going to make him work for it or even just be a bit harder to win over, left me unsatisfied with the buildup of their relationship. He was the same, one second he is saying he is going to kill her and then in the same breath he is claiming her as his and she will be his wife. Out of all three, this was my least favorite.

Bought by the Bear

The second story was better than the first. The relationship did feel rushed through. I️ would have liked to have seen more build up. The plot was good. I️ liked the characters. The conflict was strong. However, the ending was rushed. I️ would have loved to have seen the aftermath of the car accident slowed down. I️ mean she must have been in a lot of pain and Xander was like 'I️ can’t wait any longer…I️ love you' and she was like 'oh Xander, I️ love you too'. I️ mean, didn’t she want to know what happened to her ex? And what about the woman who attacked her, was she alive or not? Certain details were really rushed while other details were great but left me wanting more. This story would have been a lot better as a full novel because I liked it, just needed more.

The Alpha and I

Story number three was better than story two. I like Kate Baxter’s style of writing and the story had a good build-up and though rushed (they commit to each other in about 24 hours or so), I still enjoyed it. She was real, her reactions to things were believable and not overdramatic, and his commitment to her was sweet and steady. The conflict was good and the plot entertaining. I do wish that at the end it did show her transition or at least had an epilogue to show the reader how things turned out after she turned werewolf. There was such build up and then an abrupt halt, I didn’t like that at all. Out of all three short stories in this collection, number three was the best. I liked the characters, plot, and development by the author in order to tell a good story.
