Audiobook Review: Code Name: Rook (Jameson Force Security #6) by: Sawyer Bennett, Narrated by John Lane, Emma Wilder
Code Name: Rook (Jameson Force Security #6) - John Lane,Sawyer Bennett,Emma Wilder

Code Name: Rook by Sawyer Bennett

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A man of mystery. A woman without a clue. A danger that threatens to consume them both. Cage and Jamie are a match made of secrets. What began by chance quickly spirals out of control. Code Name: Rook takes some getting used to. There are moments when it feels like your walking in slow motion and it's hard to see the way out. Sawyer holds her cards close to the vest and just as you think you have everything figured out there's another twist that stops you cold. A spellbinding blend of sensuality and intrigue that thrives on being smartly unpredictable.

Audio Review: Derail (Off Track Records #2) by Kacey Shea, Narrated by Jason Clarke and Emma Wilder

Derail by Kacey Shea

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Audio Review: Derail (Off Track Records #2) by Kacey Shea, Narrated by Jason Clarke and Emma Wilder

How is it possible to fall in love with people you aren't even sure that you like? Shea and company make it so easy. Derail steps outside of the beautiful fantasy and highlights the broken parts. Sean and Jess are hopelessly flawed, yet beautifully real. Wilder and Clarke are the heart of Shea's soul. That detail alone makes for a haunting, yet captivating experience.

Wilder Girl
Wilder Girls - Rory Power

In Wilder Girls, the story is told by jumping every few chapters between Byatt and Hetty’s points-of-view. The two girls are in a relationship. They are quarantined on an island with the rest of their all-girls school. A strange illness has taken over the girls and the island. It is implied that this is related to climate change. The illness is known as “Tox”. It slowly rots the inside of living creatures. It mutates the girls and their teachers until it kills them. Flare-ups happen to the girls on a regular timetable. <Spoiler> I think it could be linked to their periods. <spoilers>.

Genre

The book is supposed to be a mystery horror. It is more of a mystery thriller. The book had some gore and there was some scary element but didn’t reach the level of horror.

Writing style

The writing was fast-paced and emotional. It was great at drawing you in and making you feel like you were there with the girls. But the beach scenes were awkwardly written.

The Ending

The ending was terrible. It felt more like the end was the middle or the climax instead of the ending of the book. Since this book is a stand-lone, the story is done but cut short. Several questions need to be answered. This was a highly disappointing ending.

Rating

I give Wilder Girls 3 out of 5 stars. The writing was great and the idea of the book was great. But the lack of an ending was enough for it to lose 2 stars for me. I feel like it needs another 300 pages.

Unbroken - Jasinda Wilder

The Preacher’s Son, Book 3

I Picked Up This Book Because: Continue the series.

The Characters:

Shea Harley:
Tre McNabb:
Other residents of Little Bridge Island

The Story:

My goodness these two could not take 3 steps without having sex. It was seriously just too much. Any bit of story was overshadowed by sex. Also what dumb decision making. Why steal the ex husband's car? What about her car? Just unexplainably dumb. I was enjoying the series but this book really put a dent in that.

The Random Thoughts:

2.5 Stars
