THE CRAZE FOR MEDICAL ENTRANCE EXAMS IN INDIA

 

In India, a medical college is an educational institution that provides medical education. These institutions may vary from stand-alone colleges that train general practitioners to specialist doctors, that offer training related to all aspects of medical care. The word can also be translated to ‘’Medical School’’ as they call in the US and other countries.

 

 

 

 

THE NEET EXAMS

 

 

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), formerly the All Indian Pre-Medical test (AIPMT) is an entrance examination in India for students who wish to study graduate and post-graduate medical course (MBBS, MD, and MS) dental courses (BDS and MDS) in government or private medical colleges and dental colleges in India. The undergraduate NEET (UG), for MBBS and BDS courses, is currently conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) which provides the results to the Directorate General of Health Services at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

 

 

Prior to 2019, the test was administered by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in partnership with Prometric Testing Pvt Ltd, headquartered in the USA. NEET-UG replaced the All Indian Per-Medical Test (AIPMT). The last NEET-UG was held on 6th January 2018 and the results were declared on 4th June 2018.

 

THE AIIMS EXAMS

 

 

The All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is a group of autonomous public medical colleges of higher studies. These institutes have been declared by an act of parliament as the Institute of national importance. AIIMS NewDelhi, the fore-runner parent excellence institution, was established in 1956.

 

 

Areas where AIIMS is Available: Fully functional AIIMSs are Rishikesh, New Delhi, Jodhpur, Gorakhpur, Patna, and Bhopal, Nagpur, Raipur, Bhubaneswar, and Mangalagiri. The upcoming AIIMSs are Awantipura, VijayPurr, Bathinda, Bilaspur, Rewari, Raebarlie, Changsari, Darbhanga, Deoghar, Kalyani, Bininajar, and Madurai.

 

 

 

 

THE JIPMER EXAMS

 

 

The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research(JIPMER) is a medical college in India. It’s located in Pondicherry, the capital of the union territory of Puducherry in southern India. JIPMER is an Indian central government funded institute with autonomy to run its internal administration. It is both an institutional institute that imparts undergraduate and postgraduate medical training and a working hospital that provides inexpensive medical care for a large number of patients. Their motto is ‘’truth cures’’. It was established on 1st January 1923, 196 years ago. The president is Maharaja Kishan Bhan. The director of the institute is Dr. Rakish Ajrawal (since Jan 2019). They have 150 undergraduates per year, 200 postgraduates per year and 36 doctoral students per year. Their campus is 195 Acres.

 

 

Areas where Test is Available: There are 12 functional collages in Kerala, Kannur, Calicut, Malappuram, Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Kollam, Trivandrum. And two planned colleges in Kasaragod and Wayanad.

 

These are the main medical entrance exams in India. It has its own difficulties to get a good score in medical exams like NEET, AIIMS, and JIPMIR. There are so many medical entrance coaching centres in Kerala to achieve the dream of a medical career.
