Through the Window - Rhys Bowen

Well I went through all the Molly Murphy short stories in the course of 24 hours. This was another great mystery and a mystery without being a homicide. I liked that the story involved Daniel more; their relationship has love, but more importantly to me, it has mutual respect. And it is very interesting that women who had just given birth were recommended/scolded to stay in bed for two weeks; I was gone from the hospital at 24 hours and 14 hours with my respective deliveries because I couldn't stand to be cooped up in a hospital room for 48 hours. I was doing laundry and cleaning the house just a couple of days into being a new mom. I can't wait until I have more time to devote to reading this series from the beginning. 4 stars.

The Face in the Mirror - Rhys Bowen

Summary:

Molly Murphy—Molly Sullivan, now that she and Daniel are finally married—is bored. Having given up her detective agency when she married, she now finds that her life is much less exciting, her days an endless stretch of housekeeping and chores. But when Molly secretly attends a suffragist meeting with her friends Sid and Gus and meets a shy, distracted woman who claims to live in a haunted house, everything is about to change.

Review:

Now I understand why the Molly Murphy mystery series is so popular. This was a short story, but long enough for me to really like Molly and want to read more in the series (unlike The Amersham Rubies story that was really much ado about nothing). Molly has enough charm and manners to mingle with the upper crust, but also has enough street smarts to get information she needs to resolve the cases. The story is only six chapters, but was enough to whet my appetite for more reading. 4 stars.

Nine page story
The Amersham Rubies - Rhys Bowen

This is pretty much a prequel to the Molly Murphy Mystery series. It takes place in County Mayo, Ireland towards the last years of the 1800s. I did not get a sense of who Molly Murphy was or her talent for observation, investigation, and resolving crimes. The rest of the ebook was an excerpt from Bless The Bride. Waste of my eReader's memory. 1 star.
