My list of 10 Things About Me

After reading everyone else's list I decided to make my own.  I had started one but decided to change it up a bit.  I'm trying to be more positive so wanted to add more positive's than negatives :)

Original idea and list from Grimlock

1, I live at home with my mom.  She's helped me out so much throughout the years and I work very  hard to repay her for everything.  My goal is to get a good enough job or career so she can quit working and just enjoy herself.

2. I prefer ballet over football.  Yeah I'm not much of a sports guy.  (A good book turned me onto ballet.  I'm going to have to reread it and write a review soon)

3. I was diagnosed with manic depression (I have no idea what they call it nowadays) in the fourth grade after moping around for two years.  I've also dealt with alot of social anxiety and anxiety in general.

4. My favorite thing in the world is to just sit on my front porch steps and read a good book.  I live at a small lake and love the wildlife and scenery.  We have alot of hawks that hang out nearby and a various assortment of critters who stop by all the time to say hello.

5. I have NO middle ground.  I either really love something or really hate it.  I'm like that with everything so I'm normally very happy or very depressed.

6. I love animals.  All animals except venomous snakes and spiders.  I've taken care of everything from baby skunks to a crawdad which just showed up with babies on it's back one day on my front porch.  I put it in a bowl with some rocks/water and took it to a nearby pond.  What the heck do you feed a crawdaddy?

7. I don't watch TV or movies very often but when I do I usually prefer documentaries or something like Cops/Alaska State Troopers and my favorite indie movies are Brotherhood of the Wolf and Ink.

8. My dream is to one day move to Alaska or Canada.

9. When I grow up I want to be a web designer :D

10. Hmm, I can't think of another one.  Oh I know. I was born with a very rare, well not too rare but rare enough eye condition called Duane's retraction syndrome in my left eye so it's partially paralyzed and will not move to the left.  I have no peripheral vision on my left side.  At the time when I was diagnosed I was the youngest person the doctors had ever seen with it and they wanted to film me for educational purposes but they were out of 8mm film so I didn't get my five seconds of fame :(  I also used to get in trouble at school because the teachers thought I was crossing my eyes at them.  I have learned not to look to my left and turn my head so they don't cross since one of them won't move that way.  It's totally awesome at parties though :D  Not many people can move one eyeball without the other one moving :)

My Site is finally ready :D

Hello everyone.  Sorry I've been so scare for a while but my website is finally finished.  I've pretty much got most of everything how I want it.  You're all welcome to stop by anytime and say hello if you want to.  It's at:

http://jamiesbookblog.com/

It's a pretty simple site.  I don't have any html knowledge so if it wasn't for the theme and plugin then I wouldn't have even been able to do any of it.  It took me so much longer than I thought it would.  I've never used wordpress so I didn't have a clue on what I was doing.

But I'm pretty proud of it.  I'm going to put aside some time to learn html now because I'd really love to improve my site as well as be able to build websites.

Oh yeah, If you do stop by please read the disclaimer.  I do use affiliate links and have books from Amazon there.  I know some of you are boycotting Amazon so I wanted to give you'll a heads up first.

If you do stop by I'd love to see what you'll think and if you'll have any suggestions or just anything really.

Hopefully I'll have a bit more reading time and can catch up on everyone here very soon.  You'll have a great night.

Just had to share...

I posted back at the beginning of the year, hey, that's almost 2 weeks ago now, because I wanted to share my exciting and scary news with all of you here about the business that my partners (being my son and his life partner) and I are starting so now after a bit of time our Social Media Director has been slowly revealing our plans and I want to share a couple of things with everyone because I'm just really excited so I'm going to repost what is on our facebook page:

I am particularly proud of this release because the very talented Bird is my son. So please feel free to check out his facebook page and see a sampling of what he can do for these BJD dolls (This is not a sales promo, just a mom's bragging rights).

Now for those of you who aren't familiar with BJD's and would like to snoop just to get an idea of what I'm up to this post might be of interest:

I need to share...

I've been sitting here watching the snow fall pondering some changes that are going to happen very, very soon in my life. Changes that I'm really excited about. Earlier this year my pride and joy and his partner approached me with an idea. We've talked about it, we've bantered ideas back and forth, we roped in the hubby to be our financial consultant, I cashed out a bit of money I had invested to pay of the credit card and set aside a bit for start up funds and a couple of days ago we went to the bank, we opened an account and transferred said start up funds into that account. We have a registered business name, we have set a date, we have a friend who wants to hold a launch party for us, OH GOD I'M GOING INTO BUSINESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's right the deed is nearly done and my kiddles and I are starting up a web store, I can't say more than that right now because our Social Media Director will have my hide if I do, she's doing a big announcement on  Twitter and Facebook and who knows where else on January 1, so I'll post more here at that time, because mostly I'm nervous and I'm scared and I want this to succeed so much. It's mostly for my son and his partner. I guess you could say that it's my gift to them, my legacy if you will. Don't get me wrong I have no plans to depart this world for many, many, many more years. But when I do I want to leave them something that we did together and that they will hopefully have fond memories of me from as well as some money in the bank.  So I guess I've chosen this as my place to share my excitement, my hopes, my fears and hopefully get a little encouragement and support from my awesome friends here on Booklikes along the way.

Ok so that was my news for the year ending and beginning. Now I also want to take this time to let all my friends here on BookLikes (and really a lot of you are from GoodReads as well) know that I wish you all the safest and happiest of New Years. I hope that 2014 is a bright and shining year for each and every one of you, making your dreams come true or at least taking you one step closer to where you want to be. I hope that at midnight on December 31, 2013 you all find yourselves in the presence of at least one person who treasures and cherishes you for the amazing person that you are and that your heart is filled with peace, love and joy for the coming year.
