#PaperbackFriday Review: Mockingjay
Mockingjay - Suzanne Collins

The last and final book in the Hunger Games. I didn't quite enjoy this book as the other two I am not sure if it was just because it seemed slower or if it was because I was not liking District 13 and their bossiness.

You get to see the war happen between the people of 13 and the Capital and there is a no holds bar we see Katniss struggle with things going on within her, trying to determine if she will become the Mockingjay that they all want/need her to be to worrying about Peeta. It seems the capital is using Peeta to draw Katniss out and pretty much make her crazy because they know she cares for him.

Katniss is a broken soul it seems that no matter which direction she chooses to go nothing will go her way and it really hurts her when people who fight beside her that she has came close to lose their life to protect hers. She literally is the Mockingjay they all need but who is telling her the truth on all matters and who can she truly trust? We see a strong character change with Peeta and you can't help but feel for him. My heart broke with how he was treated but I felt it was necessary the author has done a wonderful job with the way the characters act, feel, and who they have became, the setting of Panema is just as amazing.

We have seen Katniss grow as a character but she seems to really shine in this book.

I did like the ending it wasn't a happily ever after ending it felt real and how it should have been.

If you haven't read the hunger trilogy I highly suggest you do it.

#PaperbackFriday Read: Execution (Escape From Furnace #5) and finishing up Mockingjay

So I forgot to do last weeks post on what paperback books I was reading. I did post a picture though!! Yay me. That has to count for remembering, it seems I get so busy on Fridays I forget to post about my weekend read it is actually quite sad.

So this #PaperbackFriday I am still reading Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins, so I will be hopefully finishing that up today and starting on Execution I was so busy last weekend that I hardly got to finish reading anything. Though this weekend since it is Bama vs. A&M my husband is having some friends over for the game so that means for me and kiddos to watch movies and for me to read. :) I totally see it as a win, win situation.

The cover of Execution is awesome and it has me wondering who is on the cover and what else is going to happen to Alex and the rest of the world. I guess I need to dive in and just get busy reading. Now Mockingjay is seeming to be pretty good I am only on page 35 so not much as happened but if it is anything like the other two books I expect it to be packed with action. Will the Capital be brought down finally or will the Capital make sure those that are rebelling put an end to the shenanigans?

So these are my reads for #PaperbackFriday what are yours?

He is the only one who can stop Furnace but in doing so he could destroy everything. Is he the executed or the executioner? Who will die? All Alex knows is that one way or another, it all ends now.

My name is Katniss Everdeen. Why am I not dead?
I should be dead.
Katniss Everdeen, girl on fire, has survived, even though her home has been destroyed. Gale has escaped. Katniss's family is safe. Peeta has been captured by the Capitol. District 13 really does exist. There are rebels. There are new leaders. A revolution is unfolding.
It is by design that Katniss was rescued from the arena in the cruel and haunting Quarter Quell, and it is by design that she has long been part of the revolution without knowing it. District 13 has come out of the shadows and is plotting to overthrow the Capitol. Everyone, it seems, has had a hand in the carefully laid plans--except Katniss.
The success of the rebellion hinges on Katniss's willingness to be a pawn, to accept responsibility for countless lives, and to change the course of the future of Panem. To do this, she must put aside her feelings of anger and distrust. She must become the rebels' Mockingjay--no matter what the personal cost.

#PaperbackFriday: Death Sentence (Escape From Furnace #3) by Alexander Gordon Smith

I forgot to post this yesterday. Man it seems I am always so busy that I forget lol hopefully soon I will remember to start posting on Friday's.

So I was able to get book three in the series of Escape from Furnace the title is Death Sentence. The cover looks just as good as the other two books I just hope it keeps up with the momentum and we get to know what else is going on within the bowels of Hell. What will happen to Alex now?

9757310

Alex's second attempt to break out of Furnace Penetentiary has failed. This time his punishment will be much worse than before. Because in the hidden, bloodstained laboratories beneath the prison, he will be made into a monster. As the warden pumps something evil into his veins--a sinisterly dark nectar--Alex becomes what he most fears . . . a superhuman minion of Furnace. How can he escape when the darkness is inside him? How can he lead the way to freedom if he is lost to himself?

#PaperbackFriday Review: Solitary (book2)
Solitary - Alexander Gordon Smith,Alex Kalajzic

So I read book one and was very impressed with it. If you haven't read book one than I highly suggest you read it as you will be lost if you start on Solitary.

So in this story if you remember Alex and his buddies went to try to escape via a tunnel that was collapsed. We left off where they got through and that was it, we never learned if they got to see daylight.

Well I guess from the synopsis we learn that they didn't. It seems the boys got caught and they are thrown into the hole. Now Alex has learned before what the hole was about via his friend Donovan and it didn't sound pretty.

Now that Alex has been captured it is a matter of time before he probably ends up going crazy or so you would think, as we read on we learn that there are things deep below that are scary and gruesome and are willing to help Alex get out. It seems that there is something more going on in the furnace besides just framing kids and having them in hell.

Now in the hole we see and feel what Alex goes through and we watch him try to escape more than once. Will he even succeed?

I thought the author could have let Alex stay in the hole a bit more longer than he did and the reason I think that is because it would have been interesting to see how sane he would have been via three days or a week. We get more interaction with the wheezers in this one and we learn about what happened to Donovan and it just makes you feel bad for all the boys that are still in prison.

I am not sure if I liked book one or this one a whole lot more it may be a tie between the both of them. I think teens will really enjoy this book it has the right amount of action and emotions that will have you wondering what will happen next.

#PaperbackFriday Solitary (Escape From Furnace #2) by Alexander Gordon Smith and The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

This time I am going to try to get through two books. One being Solitary (Escape From Furnace #2) and book two will be The Hunger Games. I have been wanting to read The Hunger Games since I bought it. My husband who is not a reader and finds it weird that I read as much as I do actually read The Hunger Games so that is saying something to me lol.

Well onto the covers of the books and what they are about.

Book One

Alex tried to escape.

He had a perfect plan.

He was almost free. Even felt the cool, clean air on his face.

Then the dogs came.

Now he’s locked in a place so gruesome—so hellish—that escape doesn’t even matter.

He just wants to survive.

Book Two

Winning will make you famous.

Losing means certain death.

The nation of Panem, formed from a post-apocalyptic North America, is a country that consists of a wealthy Capitol region surrounded by 12 poorer districts. Early in its history, a rebellion led by a 13th district against the Capitol resulted in its destruction and the creation of an annual televised event known as the Hunger Games. In punishment, and as a reminder of the power and grace of the Capitol, each district must yield one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 through a lottery system to participate in the games. The 'tributes' are chosen during the annual Reaping and are forced to fight to the death, leaving only one survivor to claim victory.

When 16-year-old Katniss's young sister, Prim, is selected as District 12's female representative, Katniss volunteers to take her place. She and her male counterpart Peeta, are pitted against bigger, stronger representatives, some of whom have trained for this their whole lives. , she sees it as a death sentence. But Katniss has been close to death before. For her, survival is second nature.
