Stellaluna - Janell Cannon

Stellaluna

Guided Reading: Level N

This is a great book that you could align with science. This is a story about a bat that gets lost and then is raised by birds. But then meets other bats and learns how to be a bat again. I would do a lesson about bats and read this book because it has great descriptions of bats.

Feathers for Lunch - Lois Ehlert

Feathers for Lunch

Guided Reading: Level D

This is a great book to read to a whole group of students. I think this is a fun way to get the students thinking about making predictions. In the story the cat is trying to catch all different types of bird but in the end only catching feathers for lunch. So to incorporate this into a lesson for my classroom I would have the students make prediction and then we would talk about whether they were right or wrong at the end of the story.
