My Reader's Manifesto in response to various author manifestos and posts

 • I will obtain your books legally at agreed upon prices.

• I will never engage in piracy or plagiarism.  I respect copyrights.

• I will boycott any authors who feel reviewers/customers owe them anything else.

• I will utterly disrespect any authors mocking victims of personal attacks, harassment, stalking, threats and bullying by equating those real issues and outright criminal activities with unwanted or not-as-directed comments strictly about their commercial products and writing skills.

With Authors Like These...

I don't know if it's ever gonna end.

Author Joanne Harris is set to deliver the latest salvo in the Authors vs Readers War (sic) with a presentation at the Manchester Literature Festival today.  Her speech will focus upon the need for greater respect for authors from readers, featuring a 12-point manifesto about this very subject.  I don't know if she's trolling for attention or if she's actually tilting at windmills.

You can read the full article here on the Guardian.

I don't know about you, but I can't wait to read this one.  Anne Rice and Laurell Hamilton must be dancing the Mamushka together right about now.
