Dark Alpha's Redemption - Donna Grant

This was so good. I couldn’t put it down and I loved every second. The last several books I’ve read have been a struggle and have been real work to get through. It was so refreshing to start this one and find the ease and enjoyment that I typically get out of reading. This one wasn’t a chore. It was enjoyable, so passionate, had great characters, and the plot and long-term conflict within the franchise just keeps heating up. The Dark Kings and Reapers world is heating up and war is just around the corner. Can’t wait for more.

5 Star Redemption
Dark Alpha's Redemption - Donna Grant

Bradach has never once strayed from his path, his duty as an elite assassin to Death driving him forward. However, Maeve’s intelligence, cunning and determination challenges him in ways that he never imagined. While finding out what she knows is key to learning how to conquer their enemy, the Dark Fae is unlike anything he’s ever known and he will risk trusting the dark. For her…he battle darkness itself.

The newest book in the ‘Reaper’ series is an emotionally gripping and stunningly exciting one that has pushing reality to the side and remaining in this fascinating world. As usual, the characters are strong, bold and stand out, grabbing readers’ attention from the get go and the romance between Bradach and Maeve is full of angst, passion, sizzling chemistry and sweet romance. The emotional turmoil throughout the relationship revolves around them having trust each other, let go hatreds from the past and listening to what their hearts have already told them and readers can certainly understand where they are coming from and why they feel the way they do.

The plot is fast paced and full of nail biting suspense and adrenaline pumping excitement as Bradach and Maeve try to discover some Usaeil’s secrets in order to rescue an Xaneth who is the Reaper’s ally and Con, the King of the Dragon Kings. During their search they also discover more about Usaeil’s trackers and they set out to discredit her among her own people to prepare for war, this adds additional thrills and excitement to the story and readers really can’t help but enjoy this stunning, heart pounding addition to the series that challenges a Reaper’s heart.

The Book That Almost Wasn’t – One Taste of Redemption by Amanda Siegrist @amanda_siegrist
One Taste of Redemption - Amanda Siegrist

Due to a reader’s persistence, One Taste of Redemption by Amanda Siegrist was written. She hadn’t planned on giving this cheater his own story, but Newman refused to be silenced. Amanda does her own covers and she can sure pick the leading men.

One Taste of Redemption (One Taste, #5)

Amazon / Goodreads

MY REVIEW

I have read the entire series, from Book I, One Taste of You, Zeke and Zoe’s story and it has been fun to follow these Sex and the City type ladies, but instead of roaming the city looking for love, it seems to find them through the mysteries they become involved in.

Lately, I seem to find all the notes I take when reading slip by the wayside when it comes time to write the reviews. My mind seems to be in two different places and the characters dictate which scenario will be played out as I type.

Newman…what can I say. He got what he deserved when he cheated and the lies began to run rampant. He doesn’t have very good coping skills, so he tends to act out instead of facing the tough decisions. But…I feel people deserve second chances when they feel remorse. It can be a learning experience, when the offense was done ‘innocently’. He never did it with malice. He was stuck in a corner and panicked…

I love to see a character earn their redemption. None of us are perfect, so why do we expect perfection from others? Something to think about when we are placing blame and judgment on someone else.

We do need some laughs and giggles to help us get through the tough times of kidnapping and danger that dogs the unlucky siblings, Amelia and Adam. Why were they targeted?

Now…I think this will be the last story told in this series and I love the way Amanda Siegrist wrapped it up, especially when she wasn’t expecting the story to be told.

Thanks so much to the reader who insisted that Newman needed a chance…All the characters made an appearance, plus we meet a couple of new ones. After all, Newman needs some love too. He just needs a smack upside the head, a young man in need of a role model and the sister who sure could use a hand raising him.

Amanda keeps her novels…pretty clean…and loves her happy endings. Don’t we all?

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of One Taste of Redemption by Amanda Siegrist.

If you like the Amos Decker Series, you will surely like this!
Redemption (Amos Decker #5) - David Baldacci

David Baldacci, author; Kyf Brewer and Orlagh Cassidy, narrators

I adore the Amos Decker series! The novels about him are easy to listen to and/or read. The big reveal never comes until the very end, but as the story builds, the mystery is always intriguing and absorbing.

Decker’s family was murdered. His failure to protect them at that time still haunts him, so every year he returns to the town where it happened and visits their graves. When a convicted murderer obtains a compassionate release from a life sentence, because he is terminally ill, and confronts him there, Decker is surprised. The man asked him and his former partner, Mary Lancaster, to prove his innocence, which was highly unusual, since they had been responsible for his conviction. When the man is murdered before he has a chance to be questioned further, Decker wonders, had they sent an innocent man to prison for a murder he didn’t commit? He becomes obsessed with finding out if he had made a mistake because he and his partner had been rookies at the time, and it was their first homicide investigation.
As Decker and Lancaster begin in earnest to re-investigate the case, reevaluating the evidence, a many legged spider is revealed. It veers in several directions with possible criminal activity. It is often hard to tell who is guilty and who is innocent, as the various characters emerge, but in the end, many of the threads are knitted together and the place of each character in the mix is explained.

What seemed to be obvious facts to Decker and Lancaster, had turned out to be easy assumptions instead. Had he and his partner as newly minted investigators, jumped to conclusions in order to have a quick, successful conclusion to their investigation? As bodies pile up and tensions build, occasionally the dialogue gets a bit trite, but most often, it is to reveal a clue or two to the reader. The other problem with the novel is that at the end, there are still pieces of the novel that are not resolved, and one wonders if there is going to be another Decker mystery which will take up the hanging threads, sometime in the future. If there is, I will be sure to read it!

Redemption is possible
One Taste of Redemption - Amanda Siegrist

Newman needed a kick in the pants, and Amelia was the right person. I loved her honest, tenacity, and openness. Newman's past actions made it hard for him to move on or even accept what Amelia offered. The support of the characters from the previous books added that touch of "anyone can change" to help Newman step beyond his past to a better future.

I received a copy of this story through Enticing Journey Book Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.
