A Cursed Embrace: A Weird Girls Novel
A Cursed Embrace: A Weird Girls Novel - Cecy Robson,Renee Chambliss After my disappointment with the first book, I found myself surprised to be reaching for the next one in the series. But nothing else was speaking to me, and I already had this one loaded on my mp3 player, so I figured, "eh, I'll give it another shot." *bangs head on desk* Somehow I had forgotten how much the narrator's voice got on my nerves - no change there. And that was just the start of my troubles with this book.

Celia and her sisters are chock a block full of contradictions and surprises - which normally makes for a great read However, the male characters make me want to slice off pieces of them (you know which ones) and then drop kick the remains into Pluto's gravitational pull. This tends to take away from my enjoyment of the book. Aric especially with all of his werewolf bullshit just truly worked my nerves. This may get spoilery, and for that I apologize, but I need to rant a bit...

The were's are all about the joy of finding their mate and being with that person till death... unless they are a pure bred wolf and then they can only be with their mate if they too are pure bred. Ummm... How the hell did all those "non" pure breds happen if they can only mate with other pures? And why when it seem like only one of their "elders" has a problem with Celia, don't the others overrule that racist bastard? And I am sick and tired about Aric telling Celia not to do something, but once she does it, telling her how great she was, but then in the very next breath ordering her to not it again. Let's not even get me started on his double standards after their break up. *deep breathes* Okay, rant over. Let's just say that I don't think I will be able to continue this series without bursting a blood vessel, and call it a day.

The writing was fine, it was mainly the subject matter that I had issues with. Unfortunately, that's a personal issue that I have to deal with. I know that many have liked this series, but for me, I'm done unless someone can promise me that in the next book, a cranial-rectal inversion was performed and Aric pulled his head out of his ass and received a personality transplant. Otherwise, I just don't want to invest more time in this series. As much as it pains me, this gets 1 star.

Reading progress update: I've read 100%.
Sealed with a Curse: A Weird Good Girls Novel, Book 1 - Tantor Audio,Renee Chambliss,Cecy Robson

Cecy Robson's series is off to a smashing start! I'd originally thought that these books revolved around witch sisters which is why I delayed reading 'em for so long. But, after a bit of review stalking, and some convincing from my fellow bloggers, I realized that the WEIRD GIRLS are about misfit siblings, and right up my alley! Full review to follow.
