An outlaw by trade, Travis Colburn refuses to be tied down by a woman. Life on the run leaves him no room for love, until a calico queen's wicked lips tattoo his soul. Her searing kiss leads him on a path entwined with the devil himself, and nothing will stand in his way—not even cold lead from a gun.

When a bullet steals her husband's life, Ella Gilby gets more than she bargained for from a tall, dark stranger. Death walks in his shadow and the temptation he offers swallows her whole. The more she denies the attraction, the more her desire for the deadly desperado draws her back in.

Heaven and debauchery collide, and the love sparked in a single night reignites as Ella recaptures the man she lost long ago. Unless their shaded past tears their world in two.

Interview:

Please welcome Kastil Eavenshade to Musings and Ramblings for a little Author Q&A.

*Offers Kastil a cup of java and a plate of digestive biscuits.*

Yum. Tasty. I'm probably making my British friends cringe right now. :D

What are your writing goals for the next year?
Finish one of my many incomplete manuscripts. Seriously, if my muse gives me one more idea I'm going to hog tied him to the bed with Gorilla glue and rainbow sprinkles.

Which three writers have inspired you the most and why/how?

  • David Morrell. The amazing things he's done to really get into writing like learning to fly a plane. He's the reason I went with a friend to learn how to fire a gun. It's one thing to write about it. Quite another to experience it.
  • Jocelyn Adams. The ideas she comes up with for her stories always have me in awe and the typing speed she has? I bow down to her awesomeness.
  • Connie Mason. The first romance author that had me gobbling up her books as fast as I could find them. That she's visited some of the places she writes about inspires me to do the same when money allows.

What quote inspires you/sums up your life?
Carpe Diem—seize the day. For me it means no matter how much crap gets thrown at you, never turn back. Keep charging.

Describe your favorite reading space.
The sun room I had weatherproofed for my cats. I painted and installed the flooring. The pic is my view from the couch in there. It's really peaceful.

Write a haiku about your life.

Happiness with self

With heart open wide to see
Find solace within

Bonus Fun Question:
A penguin walks through the door right now wearing a sombrero. What does he say and why is he here?
Hey, we're late for the flight to Mexico …wait. Is that the Penguins playing on TV? Move over and get me some sardines, will you? And a gluten free beer. That other stuff makes me gassy.

Thanks for sharing with us today. Any final words of wisdom to pass along?

Don't ever let someone else tell you what your dream is but remember art is a crime of passion. It always comes with a price.

Author Bio:

Kastil Eavenshade is multi-published author pandering her romantic shenanigans. When not catering to the whims of three rescued kitties, she’s dreaming up her next heart-beating tale. No period in history–past, present, or future–is safe from the clutches of her muse.

Her passions beyond writing are drawing, cooking, and watching Pittsburgh Penguins hockey. She credits her parents for her free spirit as they’ve always supported her in every aspect of her life. Without them, she wouldn’t be here. She finds pleasure in writing anything from fantasy to romance-which sometimes parallel each other.

If you know what’s good for you, you’ll go back to Dallas.

Since coming home Sutton has inherited herself a heap of headaches, two bossy men who want her for their own, threatening notes, and a whole lot of trouble in Paradise.

Having Doc McNab as competition, being ten years Sutton’s senior, and under her employ, meant the deck was stacked against Flint Palmer when it came to winning the sexy, vivacious Sutton as his woman. No way would she be interested in an old, worn-out, ex-rodeo cowboy like him, but that wasn’t going to stop the man from trying.

With the exception of the pretty as a picture, Sutton Callaway, Kale McNab’s childhood sucked. He’d been jerked up more so than raised by his ex-convict of a father, eventually leaving the girl and West Texas behind. Now, he’s all grown and back in Sutton’s life, willing to do whatever it takes to stay there.

Excerpt:

After propping up the hood, Sutton stood on her tip toes, waved a hand about in an effort to keep the smoke from her face, and glanced at the guts of the truck—as if she would know what she was looking for. She supposed the doing made her feel as if she were taking proactive measures about the situation, until the coughing started. Perhaps sticking her head beneath the hood hadn’t been the best idea.

Covering her nose with one hand, still swiping the foul air with the other, she took a step back. The breeze kicked up and blew another puff of nasty at her. She coughed yet again and stomped a booted foot on the pavement, irritated.

* * * *

Kale’s morning had royally sucked. He hated when he had to put down an animal, and as a result, he’d pretty much been in a mood when Flint called him about Maeflower. He sure hoped he didn’t have to put two horses down in the same day, a fact he’d been grumbling about under his breath when he jumped in his truck. But after leaving his office and driving down Main Street, he saw something with the potential to vastly improve his afternoon.

The corner’s of Kale’s mouth turned up into a smile as he pulled his F-150 dual cab into the parking lot of Dunning’s, watching Sutton Callaway doing the hippy, hippy, shake in tight daisy dukes, a faded turquoise T-shirt, and turquoise cowgirl boots.

God bless Texas.

Guest Post:

What are the five biggest distractions from your writing?

I smiled when I read this question, because when it comes to distractions that keep me from writing, there isn’t five. There’s one. A major one. LIFE. It never fails. I sit down to write and the phone rings. The doorbell chimes and I have a surprise visit from family I haven’t seen in years. A major crisis hits. Health problems. The AC guys need to turn off my power in order to get a possum out of the unit (true story). The fire department shows up en masse overtaking my lawn because the house behind me has a fire blazing in their garage (true story). So, yeah. Life and its unpredictability is always the biggest distraction.

Author Bio:
I love: Coca-Cola, anything chocolate, reading, writing, singing, dancing, movies, listening to thunder storms, watching it rain, the mountains, the ocean, orchids, great smiles, and guys with brooding eyes and great scowls.

So, I write erotic romance (mostly) although I have one or two sweet romances bopping around out there in the great big world of published books. If you want to know more about them, this is the place you can find out.

If you want to know a little bit more about me, you can find me on social media, you know, Facebook, Twitter and such. Oh, and you are cordially invited to come join my FB group Slip Between the Pages with London where you can ask me about any of my books, or if you just want to talk about something random such as the best way to make a horrible meatloaf, I’m your girl. *Smiles* We have a lot of fun in that group. *Whispers conspiratorially* Sometimes we spike the punch. Shh…Don’t tell.

Summertime love is always the sweetest. These eight sweet tales of summer romance are the perfect companion for a day at the lake or the beach.

Truly Paradise – Michelle Ziegler

Waiting for the right one can be torture.

Too bad for Hailey, impatience got the best of her. Finding Mr. Right in time for a destination wedding couldn’t happen fast enough. Instead of listening to reason, or rather her friends, she’s stuck in paradise alone, again. Nothing ruins a tropical paradise faster than catching your date with another woman.Justin’s ready for a change. He’s been caught up in his own success for too long and is looking to finally settle down. Timing is everything and his cousins wedding is the perfect start of his new life. His luck is changing with the captivating mystery woman on the beach. Now all he has to do is find her, before he agrees to his family’s match making plot.

Ocean Dust – Laurie Treacy

Carly Dawson, 18, is facing her last summer before leaving for college, all alone. Still nursing a broken heart over the loss of her boyfriend, Chase Montgomery, she wants the next two months to be different. A shocking unexpected visitor one night just may offer Carly the excitement she seeks. Her only decision is whether or not to choose what this visitor offers her.

The Beach Rose – Christa MacDonald

Annie Thomas can’t believe her good luck when she inherits the family’s beach house in Oceanside Maine. It’s one of the few places she was truly happy so she sells everything she owns, quits her job, and moves in hoping that her new business, The Beach Rose, will bring in enough money in its first season to let her live up there year round. But on her first day things aren’t as easy or as simple as she’d hoped. To cap it off she discovers that her best new client is actually the boy she had a huge teenage crush on. So much for rekindling a summer romance.

For Craig, Annie was everything he wanted when he was a geeky seventeen year-old. Now that he’s pushing forty and the owner of half the real estate in town, he wants another shot at convincing her that he’s everything she needs. He didn’t count on her owning the business he just signed a contract with though. Craig has to find a way to help Annie’s struggling business without her knowing it since anything else would push her further away and that’s the last thing he wants.

Together they may get a second chance for a summer romance.

When the Sea Swallows the Sun – Kim Strattford

A trip to Clearwater Beach was supposed to be a fun escape from the D.C. rat race for Emma and her boyfriend Sam. Until Sam dumped her, leaving her with a ticket she was too cheap not to use and a resolution to enjoy her time in the sun and get over him. A plan that sputters when Sam’s good friend Rick shows up. Rick, who’s never seemed to approve of her for reasons she’s never understood. Rick, who seems to think he has license to bug her just because he bought Sam’s ticket. Rick, who may be a much nicer guy than she ever realized, and who might have a very good reason for not thinking much of her. Can they make peace in the beautiful Florida sun and surf? Peace—or maybe more?

Love’s Nectar – Jaylee Austin

Love’s High Tide – Niki Mitchell

She refuses to see him or hear his explanation.

Miserable, Harley must do something monumental to win her back. Will Skye ever forgive Harley?

Linger – Melissa J. Crispin

Tracey Thompson isn't like most twenty-year-olds. She's looking forward to settling down and marrying her soul mate, Noah Martin. Even though their love bloomed when they were just little kids, they never doubted it and never looked back.

When a tragic accident separates Tracey from Noah, she struggles to go on without him. As the days wear on, she becomes aware of a chance for them to be together once again. All she needs to do is understand what tore them apart in the first place. But, overcoming this is harder than it seems. Will she be strong enough to find her way back to him?

Above Reproach – Sheryl Winters

A one night stand leads to a pregnancy and a re-evaluation of her life goals. In reality, Margaret's always hated her office job and culinary school is her life dream. But that too is ripped away from her when Garrett, her best friend and father of her child, develops cancer.

Obligation forces her back to the work she hates. When office espionage threatens her life, Margaret finds she must make a choice. Stand up for what she truly believes in or lose all she's ever wanted.

Interview:

What is your Dream Summer Vacation Destination?

Michelle Ziegler:
I would love to go to Bora Bora. So many movies have been set here that I have put this location as my bucket list. The water is clear, and the beaches look unblemished. The idea of seclusion, for a little while, is appealing.

Laurie Treacy:
My dream destination, anytime of the year but especially for the summer, is Ireland. A cottage or castle overlooking the Irish Sea.
Thank you.

Christa MacDonald:
Scotland. I've wanted to go for years, but we keep putting it off. I'd love to see the heather in bloom, hear the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, and sip some whiskey. There's a remote little loch in the highlands with a guest house right at the water's edge I've been dreaming of for ages. And the hubster in a kilt is an inspiring sight .

Kim Strattford:
Vail Valley, Colorado. It’s gorgeous, it’s not too hot, there are tons of things to do, and my body seems to be happier at elevations of 7,000 feet or higher (no dizziness, very few migraines). I’d move there year round except I don’t want to deal with winters at that altitude.

Jaylee Austin:
Australia is my ultimate dream vacation. I’d love to take the Aboriginal culture tours. Visit Queen’s land and see the Daintree rainforest. Visit the beautiful beaches and swim around the barrier reef.

Niki Mitchell:
My dream summer vacation would be to stay in Hawaii, Tahiti or any tropical island. I can see myself relaxing on the beach, drinking a Mai Tai with an umbrella swizzle stick, or snorkelling, or island hopping inside a sailboat.

Melissa J. Crispin:
I would LOVE to take a two week cruise to the Caribbean. I have taken one week cruises to the Caribbean before, and each time I end up wishing it was longer. For me, it seems like the perfect way to pass the time. First, you get waited on hand and foot on the boat, not needing to lift a finger. There's plenty to do if you feel like it, and there are places to chill if you just want to relax.

Then, after being spoiled, you hop off at various ports, seeing different sights and catching sun on some of the most gorgeous beaches around. What could be better than that? Sign me up, please!!

Sheryl Winters:
There is a hotel on the beach in Homer Alaska called 'Lands End.' My dream vacation would be a room on the second floor. I could write to my heart's content peeking out the window every now and then at Kachemak Bay. The hotel has tiny balconies where you can sit and watch the Eagles swoop by. Boats drift into the harbor, seagulls fly, it's the most beautiful place I've ever been to.
