David Goes to School, written by David Shannon,is a great book! David does what he wants in school. The teacher is constantly getting on to him. Eventually she gets fed up with his behavior and makes him stay after school and clean all of the desks. Will that change David’s behavior in school? I can use this book in my classroom to discuss school rules and teach the students about making predictions!  I can have the students come up with rules for our classroom!

This book, "Back-To-School Rules", is such a quirky fun book and a fun introduction of what to expect out of your students on the first day of school. Because the story shows them the rules of what to do and not to do in school. Percy is just trying to survive school and in order to, he made 10 simple rules to follow. For example, always stay awake in class! And no spitting spit balls in the classroom! I believe that this book is geared towards pre-k through 3rd grade!

is there are cards at the back, showing the word on one side and a picture on the other side.
As you read along in this very colorful illustrated children's book is that some words are actually
a picture making it so much more easier for the child to read along with you.
It's about spiders and the rules they have after school. One group wanted to play one game, the other game a different game.
They agree to play both and everybody is happy. Great team work.

Another entertaining read aloud for back to school.

I love the quirky illustrations -- it looks like a fun school day! But the text, oh the text. Page after page of no, no and no. The rules are negative - don't do this, don't do that. Instead of being endearing or silly, it feels heavy and sad. Not the feeling I want to share with students at the start of school!
