Home to Whiskey Creek - Brenda Novak
Secrets of the Tulip Sisters - Susan Mallery

The kids made it through ju-jitsu (Japanese style) camp with flying colors in addition to their other activities. This weekend is the summer overnight camp "trip" (camp grounds are 10 minutes from my house), which is their first camping trip ever (our Scout pack camps rain or shine). Next week sees more end of the summer activities plus stuff to do to get ready for the new school year.

I borrowed from the library Secrets of the Tulip Sisters by Susan Mallery (women's fiction), which I will start sometime this weekend, along with the Crewel World by Monica Ferris (cozy mystery). I moved Dark Witch by Nora Roberts back to the planning shelf since I will use that book for Halloween Bingo. I DNF'd Home to Whiskey Creek but will do a review because I have some things to say about that crap.

Have a happy and safe weekend!

Summer Hours at the Robbers Library - Sue Halpern
Sunny is sentenced to 40 hours per week service at the library in Riverton for stealing.  She shadows Kit, the librarian.  Kit has secrets she tries to hid.  Sunny learns secrets she, maybe, did not want to know.  Rusty, a daily library patron, lets his secrets be known.  They collide and form a bond none expected.
I loved this book.  I liked how it was set up by Kit's secrets and by the weeks Sunny worked at the library.  I also liked the story told from the different points of view.  The secondary characters were quirky and fun.  They were honest in their actions and words.
I would like to know what the future holds for all of them.

FTCE Educational Media Specialist PK-12 Secrets Study Guide: FTCE Exam Review for the Florida Teacher Certification Examinations - Ftce Exam Secrets Test Prep Team

I used this to study for my Educational Media Specialist certification and passed. So... It worked and was worth the ridiculous price I guess.

Secrets of Desire - L.K. Shaw

This is the 2nd installment of the Secrets Series.

I didn't read the other installments, and I have to say I didn't feel lost as to what was going on.

Connor Black is a dom who was abused in his childhood and had a very tough life. He's very hesitant getting close to people and though he's super attracted to Bridget, a sub who frequents his club, he admires her from afar and doesn't get too close.

Connor runs a private investigations business, and Bridget asks him for help with her son. Her son is a secret she's been keeping since forever, but finally tells Connor she had a son when she was a teenager and left him up for adoption. Though she still keeps in touch with the adoptive parents, it scares her to hear from her son asking for her help.

Connor tells Bridget not to worry and that he'll get to the bottom of what's going on with her son. So begins a lurid tale of intrigue as it turns out the adoptive parents died in a questionable car crash and the person in charge of Bridget's son is his uncle whom everyone thinks is abusing the boy.

It's an all out race to find out what really happened with the adoptive parents and if Bridget's son is in any danger, but everything gets complicated when Bridget and Connor can't seem to keep their hands off each other. Can Connor get through his issues and finally get a happy ending?
