May Reading Wrap Up
Deep Deception - Cathy Pegau
Forbidden - Beverly Jenkins
Killer in High Heels - Gemma Halliday
A Charming Crime - Tonya Kappes
A Wedding in Springtime - Amanda Forester
London; the story of the greatest city on Earth. - Edward Rutherford
Learning to Swim - Sara J. Henry
Nothing but Trouble - Susan May Warren
A Christmas Hope - Stacy Henrie
After the Storm: A Kate Burkholder Novel - Linda Castillo

May went by so fast! But the big project, reading the 800+ page book for the Pop Sugar challenge, was a success and now I can easily finish the challenge in the second half of the year.

I took a day to read some really short freebies from my NOOK, none of which worked for me. Hurtling through space and time in a tin can for two days provided a lot of time for me to read. My BL-opoly bank balance is sitting at $68.00.

Highlights/Lowlights:

Best Books: London, Forbidden, Vision volumes 1 and 2

Worst Books: Shimmy for Me, Summer Flings series

Disappointing book: A Charming Cure - I had big expectations for this series and I hope the second book can live up to those expectations

Review: A Wedding in Springtime (Marriage Mart #1) by Amanda Forester
A Wedding in Springtime - Amanda Forester

Genie screws up her debut in front of the Queen and is branded an outcast. Genie blames Will Grant for screwing up her big moment. Really, it was Lord Chamberlin's gut distress that is to blame - yep, this Regency romance starts with a prologue dedicated to a fart joke.

Her aunt and mentor decides she needs to marry and quickly. Grant is too much of a rake, so poor Genie has to impress a bunch of dull suitors when she wants adventure with Grant. Grant and his crew (a duke and an earl, aka the heroes in the other two books in the series) are also trying to figure out who is the mole in the British intelligence agency that is feeding Napoleon information regarding the British navy activities. There is matchmaking dowager, a secret marriage, a second chance for a group of London orphans, lots of fun twists and a satisfying HEA for Grant and Genie. And thankfully, there was only two balls in the entire book.

I definitely want to read the other two books in the series.

Dewey Readathon Edition of Booklikes-opoly (Turns Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth)
Killer in High Heels - Gemma Halliday
A Charming Crime - Tonya Kappes
A Wedding in Springtime - Amanda Forester

Between the two books from Thursday's roll and the three rolls today, I will be reading through RT.

April 27th: Rolled a double, so I landed on Tomorrowland 33 (reading Deep Deception by Cathy Pegau) and then on Frontierland 1 (reading Forbidden by Beverly Jenkins).

Dewey Read-a-thon Rolls:

1st Roll: 7 (1+6) - Fantasyland 8 (a book shelved/tagged as mystery or that has a title beginning with any letter in the word "clue") - Killer in High Heels (High Heels #2) by Gemma Halliday. Good Reads page total 260; NOOK edition has 272 - close enough since it keeps me in the same value bracket. 260 pages = $3.00.

2nd Roll: 3 (2+1) - Main Street USA 10 (read a book that is set in small town in the USA) - A Charming Crime (Magical Cures #1) by Tonya Kappes is set in Whispering Falls, KY. Good Reads doesn't have a page number for the NOOK edition, so going off my edition 155 pages = $2.00.

3rd Roll: 9 (6+3) - Just Visiting - as per the instructions on MR's post about the special read-a-thon rolls, any space that doesn't give you a book to read is one to be skipped. So continuing on...

3rd Roll, take 2: 9 (6+3) - oh come on...

3rd Roll, take 3: 5 (1+4) - Space with the ring on it (someone gets married, jewelry on the cover, or a millionaire / billionaire character) - A Wedding in Springtime (Marriage Mart #1) by Amanda Forester. This also will take care of a Pop Sugar prompt. Good Reads has the book clocking in at 415 pages, but my NOOK edition only has 309. So I am going with the NOOK this time. 309 pages = $4.00

SPRINGTIME by MICHELLE de KRETSER
Springtime: A Ghost Story - Michelle de Kretser

Short story

This book is super small but I loved the cover so I gave it a go. I don't know what's happening in this book. It's kind of a ghost story and a story about a marriage that may be falling apart or may be intact because I couldn't tell at the end. And was there a threesome in this somehow? I was really confused by the time I finished it.
