View from Page Thirty: The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness
The Knife of Never Letting Go - Patrick Ness

I did a first impression review of The Knife of Never Letting Go over on my blog, The Broke and the Bookish. I read thirty pages and then say my first date thoughts of the book. This one was pretty favorable and I can't wait to read more of it.

I did a pretty long post over there, so check it out if you are interested. I'll paste my final verdict over here though, just for funsies.

Final Verdict:
Yeah I am totally reading on. I am really curious to see how the story unfolds and what the rules and limitations of this world are. It sounds like a different twist on the dystopian thing, rather than just the controlling government makes us do something strange that our main character is rebelling against. I want to know more and can't wait to continue on!

Julia's Reading Roundup from 2013

Over at The Broke and the Bookish (my co-blog) I wrote a piece today talking about my reading patterns from last year. Despite barely making it to 52 books, I actually accomplished or started to a lot of informal goals, like catching up on series that I had already started or reading more books that I had not yet rea

d that I already owned.

I thought i would link it here too. And since I like to put random pictures in my links, here is one from me last winter after I raided a Half Priced Books going out of business sale

insane amount of books cover me

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Books I was Forced to Read @ Broke and Bookish
Fatherland (Mortalis) - Robert Harris

I think this is a great topic this week! I have four on our list, including Fatherland. Head on over there and check it out. Link up your own lists! My part of the list was really "Favorite books teachers forced upon me"

Also this cover is way less "YOU'RE READING A BOOK ABOUT NAZIS" then the one I read. I always felt like I had to hide the cover, more so than romance novels really, just in case someone thought I was reading a "How to" guide on Nazis or something. *shrug* High school logic.

Top Ten Tuesday: Best/Worst Series Endings @ Broke and Bookish
Shades of Earth - Beth Revis
A Duke of Her Own - Eloisa James

Today, us ladies over at The Broke and the Bookish are hosting the Top Ten Best or Worst Series Endings. We all took it in a few directions... I sort of went to a dark place with my worst pick mostly because it still isn't over. But I can tease you a bit by including my two best picks.

Check everyone's out and link to your own on the blog!

Moonglow - Kristen Callihan
Scarlet - Marissa Meyer

Today's Top Ten Tuesday is about our favorite sequels! My contribution was Moonglow by Kristen Callihan. I would have also said Scarlet by Marissa Meyer but Jana already had that covered :)

Check out the other ten at the blog and link up your own list!
