More Than You Know (The Harrisons) - Jennifer Gracen

Nick is a hero.   Not because he is a Detective in the police department but because he is willing to donate his marrow to a little boy that he doesn’t even know.   Well, maybe he doesn’t know them but there is a very good reason that his marrow is a match to this boy.      I love this twist.   Sure, I knew it was coming.   It wasn’t a surprise but it was perfect.  The fact that he ends up related to the boy only endears him to me even more.   With all the drama, and oh was there drama, surrounding the fact that he is a long lost Harrison he never lets it get between the real reason that he is in New York.

Then he meets Amanda.    Everything he thought he knew about love gets twisted around.    She pushes, she pulls, and she retreats in reaction to his tough, alpha exterior.    But she is perfect for him.    If only they would both open their eyes are realize it.    They both need to get over themselves and open their hearts to a love so perfect that it would be so sad to not accept it.

It Might Be You is a love story.   There is romance, there is heat, there is love but it is also a family story.   A story of finding a piece of yourself that you didn’t know was missing, a story of finding out the truth about yourself, and a story of opening your heart to love.

This is a story that is perfect with a mug of hot cocoa and cuddled under a warm blanket.

More Than You Know
More Than You Know (The Harrisons) - Jennifer Gracen
Dane is opening a new hotel. To set his hotel apart, he is looking for a lounge singer to help attract guests. Julia has her regular day job and takes gigs on the side. When Dane hears Julia, he knows she would be perfect for his hotel.
Starting out, I hated Dane. He is obnoxious, elitist, entitled, and a snob. Julia was a little better. But, I didn't like her focusing so much on her past and that was effecting her present. I got irritated with the age difference (he's 36, she's 41) being brought up over and over. Not a big fucking deal! Also with Julia's bust size. Yes, I know they are large. Just stop it, please! Say it once and then move on.
I liked Dane's family, particularly Tess. I might check out her story. Julia has a few awesome friends that are supportive of her and call her on her shit. Luckily, both get their shit together. I didn't hate Dane at the end, he was okay.

*after reading synopsis for Tess's story....probably not.

Good Story and Characters
'Tis the Season (The Harrisons) - Jennifer Gracen Charles is divorced and single in his forties and lonely and dissatisfied and he has three small kids he seldom sees. Charles is also the CEO of Harrison Enterprises. Charles is the quieter brother and the peacekeeper of the family. Lisette is Charles nanny for his kids. She has had a crush on Charles since Lisette started working for Charles but feels that they should not cross the line separating them when he acts like he is attracted to Lisette also. Then one night Charles and Lisette give into their intense chemistry. Finally Charles is feeling something for the first time since his divorce. Charles has known Lisette for two years. Charles is obsessed with family reputation as he feels ashamed of the scandal brought on the family name. Charles doesn’t have a very good relationship with his dad but wants better for his kids but Charles has to somehow make the time. Lisette and Charles come from different worlds but Lisette cares about the man not his money and she loves the kids. Lisette has not had an easy life : she lost her mother when Lisette was young. She lost her unborn child in a car accident the fiance left Lisette, and her father is slipping away to Alzheimer's. Then Charles ex wife is making problems for Lisette so she leaves. I really enjoyed reading this story. The plot was good. Charles definitely needed a good woman I was happy to see Charles get close to Lisette. It was a fun sweet story and the plot was very good. I felt bad for all the pain Lisette went through in her life. So finally for Lisette to have happiness and caring just made this story. Lisette was good for Charles as well as his children. I was also happy to see Charles’s brothers and sister just wanted to see Charles happy. No matter with who. I really liked the characters and loved the ins and outs of this story. I recommend.

Good Story and Characters
More Than You Know (The Harrisons) - Jennifer Gracen

Dane was nicknamed the Golden Boy - he had a natural charm and drew people to him. Dane was looking for a singer with star quality to be the heading act at the lounge in his new hotel. He wanted a quality voice, stage presence, and personality high standards he was determined to fins in one singer. The hotel was opening in five weeks and Dane was running out of time it was not so easy to find the singer he was looking for. Dane was a true NYer and he loved NYC , he was all about the color and sound , living large and taking life for a ride. Dane finally found his singer in a lounge in Long Island. His sister Tess had suggested he go listen to this woman Julie. Dane was very attracted to Julia and wanted to sleep with her but that was not to be as he wanted Julia more as his singer and he didn’t sleep with his employees. Kalvin became Julia’s friend her first year in college and when her life had come apart he came with her to NY and they are like brother and sister. He plays backup to Julia’s singing and Dane also hires Kalvin for backup. Julia was also very attracted to Dane even though he reminded her of her ex who had ruined her life more than twelve years ago. But Dane and Julia decide on a no strings attached fun sexual relationship. Julia had everything taken from her by her ex and her family even turned on her she wasn’t letting that happen again. So her lack of trust was from a hard life lesson. Julia had a day job as a secretary but Dane had doubled her salary to come work for him so she could quit. Julia is 41 to Dane’s 36.

I really liked this story. It was well written and i also loved the plot. I liked all the twists and turns in the story. Two very grounded people who don’t want any commitment only no strings attached relationship. One reasoning from childhood memories and the other from he ex and the life lesson she had learned the very hard way. But5 somehow things start to change . I didn’t always like how Julia treated Dane at times I feel she carried it a little far and the push and pull way she treated him was not something i liked. But for the most part i loved the characters especially Dane and Julia and all they go through. But i also liked Tess and Kalvin and how they are there for Dane and Julia. I recommend.

I received an ARC of this story for an honest review.

Waylaid Cover Reveal

(reblogged from Kim Harrison's Drama)

I’ve been teasing you all week about the cover for “Waylaid” the Hollows/Drafter mash up. It’s got Rachel. It’s got Jenks, and just a wee smidgen of Al as I mix two worlds that were never meant to touch.  But the cover? I love the cover with the hot and cold tones. This comes out fairly soon, actually, with a April 4th release on the usual e-book outlets, but both retailers have free software that lets you read it on your computer. I can’t imagine that this won’t be included at the back of something someday, but don’t count on it being anytime soon.

For the price of a coffee, a glimpse of what might happen if the two worlds collided:

Waylaid has become the kickoff for my new campaign that celebrates the broken hero. Tim and I have shirts, (I’ll show you Monday!) and give aways, and a rare opportunity for you to get some of my older titles personalized if you order them through Nicholas. (So I can, you know, sign them to you.)

With that in mind, I’m making the first of the Truth series available from March 1 to March 31.  (Yes, these were written by me!) I’ll have the other two titles available next month, and so on until all my back list has been run through.
