Gone now. There were no tents there any-more, that familiar chaos of stained awnings and makeshift shelters; no ancient mall structure at their centre, like an egg in its nest. There was no pushing crowd, no smoke from cooking fires or the stinking generators, no shouts of vendors hawking their wares.
No buildings. No homes.
Only a span of ash and absence.
