Wolves and Daggers by Melanie Karsak
Wolves and Daggers: A Steampunk Fairy Tale - Melanie Karsak

Wolves and Daggers is a beautifully retold, short steampunk retelling of Little Red Riding Hood.  I love the author's steampunk fairytale world and her characters.

The Path of Daggers, The Wheel of Time #8
The Path of Daggers (Wheel of Time) - Robert Jordan

This is my least favorite so far. It has some fantastic scenes in it, but for the most part it has a lot of frustrating tangling of plot-threads and very little progress.

The new cover art was changed here, too, but it was an improvement this time. The oddly posed scene of Aviendha, Elayne and Nynaeve using the Bowl of the Winds is replaced with the fight during the flight from the Kin's Farm through a gateway.

Rand al'Thor is unquestioned master of his domain and orchestrates a campaign against the Seanchan in Altara, taking along many of his followers with questionable loyalty as war fodder. Min reads.

Egwene continues her rise as pupper Amyrlin to legitimate ruler, taking advantage of the currents within Aes Sedai politics, with the help of Siuan and Leane and others.

Nynaeve, Aviendha and Elayne finally use the bowl in spectacular fashion at the opening of the book. The Sea Folk, the Kin, and other Salidar Aes Sedai often don't make things easy. Birgitte and Lan provide moral support.

Loial has been shuffled off somewhere, while Perrin and Faile and Three Aiel, followed by Berelain are sent to Ghealdan to bring the Prophet to heel.

Morgase and co....are out of the woods for a brief, shining moment.

In many ways this book was a slog. Mat is out of the picture, and everyone's plot-lines seem full of trudging and failure.

REVIEW *May contain spoilers *

I have read and am writing a review for 4 of the stories in this box bundle. These stories may not be for those who have issues with abuse, rape, or sexual demeaning. With that being said they were well written and each author offers a totally different type of story. They could use more proofing but aside from that they were good stories.

Dirty by Kimberly Blalock
This is a short but sexy as all get out about a young woman named Olivia who works as a stripper at a club where unbeknown to her the boss man is her neighbor and he watches her every move. Adam is her lawyer but douche boyfriend who basically leaves her alone more often than not. One night some friends of hers at the club talk her into going out and who do they run into? yep you guessed it the Boss Man himself. Sparks fly for these two.

Repentance by Cassia Brightmore
This was a good story although at first I wasn't quite sure what was going on. But we get mystery, suspense, and a dark and twisted story.

Insurmountable by Skye Callahan
This book takes us into the world of female trafficking, abuse, and savoirs or is he? Female sex slaves, dinner parties, and the rich men who enjoy them. Twisted..But one hell of a read. I truly enjoyed this story.
Was very well written although could have used some proofing in spots.

Matchmaker by Heather Dahlgren
Amanda is a matchmaker and when a lady comes in and wants to setup a match for her brother she doesn't know what to do at first. None of her girls want a one night thing and this Susan is wanting that date to be set for Valentines Day. Amanda does the only thing she can and that is go out with said Man herself. Turns out Davis is a nice catch and she is feeling guilty for not telling him how she came about the blind date.
Can Amanda get Davis to understand? Well grab a copy and find out.

I was gifted a copy of this boxset for an honest review.

The Case of the Great Granny: Bradley Daggers Investagates
The Case of the Great Granny: Bradley Daggers Investagates - Thomas Emmon Pisano Detective Bradley Daggers is investigating the murder of a woman, a grandmother, and he has several suspects, one of which is the deceased very beautiful, but very bad tempered granddaughter, who wants the case to close quickly so she can get to her inheritance. As the investigation continues, the suspects and motives seem to multiply, including depraved relatives and bungling hit men. There seems to be many people who wanted to separate the victim from her valuables. Throw in some gunfights and a bit of hanky panky and you have the classic who-dun-it.

I LIKED IT!!!!

This book is written like the classic cop shows on television. Every day starts out at the precinct, the one-nine, with the commanding officer giving the assignments, all he has to add is "Be careful out there," and you would think you are reading a copy of a script from Hill Street Blues, but this takes place in Los Angeles so maybe Dragnet would be a better reference.

Each day also includes a weather report, I didn't know it rained so much in California.

Daggers is a big tough cop who doesn't need a partner but after shooting a witness he get a nice looking female partner.

It is a classic plot, with a classic theme and classic characters. But all this being said, I did enjoy this book, putting all the evidence pieces together, as many wrong assumptions as right, a little gratuitous sex thrown in. It was a good suspenseful read.

Please take time to go to the author's web site to find out more about this author and his book and keep him in your prayers. http://thomasemmonpisano.com/
