Indian Oral Epics: "Mahabharata" by Krishna-Dwaipayana Vyasa
Mahabharata of Krishna-Dwaipayana Vyasa, 12 volumes - Kisari Ganguly

(Original Review, 2004-06-18)

Since Homer specialised in the "in media res" scenario, which modern screenplay writers, with their enormous initial back-stories - yes Superman and Spider-Man writers I am accusing you, my friends - still seem to have no concept of) we need to recognise that Homer took for granted his audience's familiarity with the Greek myth-kitty, so they might already know why, thanks to the Judgement of Paris (don't look it up!) Hera and Athena sided with the Greeks.

The Eustace Diamonds: "The Palliser Novels" by Anthony Trollope
The Palliser Novels (Six Volumes in 1 slipcase) - Anthony Trollope

(Original Review, 2002-06-28)

I have some fairly handsome volumes on the shelves in my living room. I mentioned elsewhere that there are about 18 Brittanica "Great Books" mostly philosophy which I have read very little of but there is also some Ancient History which I have. They are quite nice looking (faux, I guess) leather bound, but the effect is rather spoiled by them having numbers on them - I guess so the buyers can tell how many of "the great books" they possess. This does mean that they sort of shout "philistine poser!" at visitors but fortunately, I don't get many.

The Art of Computer Programming, Volumes 1-4A Boxed Set - Donald Ervin Knuth

(Original Review, 2011)

Here's my code and a sample run attempting to find the shortest path from "Home" to "School":

class Location:
def __init__(self, name):
self.name = name
self.connections = []

def set_connections(self, connections):
self.connections = connections

def __str__(self):
return self.name

Stirred Up: Volumes 1 and 2 - S.E. Hall,Angela Graham

Okay, so OMGoodness this was a hot, and at times, hilarious read.
As silly as some of the antics were at times, I could still totally relate to the characters here. Even Addison's brother, Dylan. Overall I really liked the dynamics at play here.

This one has a crazy, totally surprising twist at the end, that I can't believe I didn't catch the clue for it, in the chapter before it's reveal. *Slaps forehead* But it was awesome. Surprised me. And it's what moved this book from a 4 star read to 5 star read for me.

I would recommend this read.

Happy Reading :)
