This is part of a poem by Sarah Kay. I saw her perform it on TED below. She also did this one. I loved her performances and wanted to share part of her magic for National Poetry Month. I've attached her books to this post as well, but the full text of the poem this except comes from, B (If I should have a daughter), can be found here. But it's so much better to watch her perform it.
I felt cheated by the book's description..it's misleading!
I was expecting some deserted island with a weird mojo, i expected those secrets to be shocking, i expected some mystery, something...instead this book is all about how the relationship develops between the two survivors, a plain love story with plain charachters.
This was one that I couldn't put down. A story about a group of people who survive a plane crash, and their life on the Island that they end up on - for two YEARS! They have a group of interesting characters, and the book switches back and forth from present time to the past, so that keeps it interesting. The Author tries to make the ending a kind of "twist" - but I saw it coming. Even then, I still really enjoyed the book.
