A true-page turner I devoured in a few hours that inhabits the gray spaces between dark fantasy and psychological thriller. Hilton James has felt since childhood that he needs to make his life count, because his grandmother lost her life saving him from drowning. Now his family is in danger; they've...
I enjoyed this story. It made me think about the possibilities. I don't like the decision Jessica made, but I understand why she made it. I don't like Dawit, but I did sympathize with his position, though his decisions weren't thought through enough. I can't say I wouldn't make the same mistakes.
I have to mention that I didn't read the first book in the Devil's Wake series, but honestly Domino Falls reads just fine as a standalone. I was instantly impressed by the writing style, and by the simple ways that Barnes and Due separate this from other zombie books out there. I'm a huge fan of a g...
What a great storyteller extraodinaire. She used many wonderful details such as history, art and a highly imaginative suspenseful plot that makes you want to hold on to the very end, and then afterwards, you being very glad that you did….I loved it.

When her grandfather is also attacked by ...
Some weak choices dampen the latter half. Cherie Priest... yes, she did write a zombie that included zombies. Doesn't really qualify her to wrote for this anthology, does it?
I have not previously read this author so I thought a free short story a good place to start. The story moved quickly and I enjoyed the writing style. I look forward to reading more by Due.
I thought this was a well put together anthology. There were only a couple of stories I didn't particularly care for and a few others I thought didn't necessarily fit the theme of "monster" but the vast majority of the stories were really quite good which is all I ask from an anthology. Recommended.
