I really enjoyed this book. Yes, I could see the obvious imitation of Lord of the Rings. There were times when I was laughing because the imitation was so blatant, and it became only too easy to refer to the characters by the names of their Middle Earthen counterparts. But, for some reason, I still ...

There is a little bit of closure to Nest's story in this one, but it still leaves a lot to wonder about. John Ross enlists Nest's help once again, this time to figure out a way to keep a gypsy morph (I had no idea what it was for a long time) away from the Void and turn it to work for the Word. This ...

The second story of John Ross (I feel like I have to call him by his whole name) and Nest is a turning of the tables. This time, John Ross is in trouble and Nest is being sent to help him save himself. John Ross has forsaken the Word and the demons are on the hunt. The biggest downfall of this one? ...

This is the story of the world before - the world of man and technology - before magic returned to the world and the Shannara Chronicles began. Many times throughout the stories the past is referenced and the remains of ruins of our world can be seen in the forests and swamps of the world of Shannar...

An entertaining read if a little wordier than I remember this from my first read back in the seventies. It was still worth the time spent listening and I am planning on listening to the rest of the first trilogy as time permits.4 Stars for a fun read and recommended for all fans of epic fantasy.

I decided to reread all the Terry Brooks books beginning with the list chosen according to Goodreads by Terry himself .Revisiting LInk I had read all these books before so the idea of starting over in the order the author picked was intriguing. This story I found to be slow and lacking the same thr...

Loved this book, and wish I had read it when I was much younger. I thought the concept of a fantasy kingdom accessible by a hiking path in the mountains of Virginia was a very original concept, and the characters and settings in this book made it an enjoyable read. Looking forward to the future volu...
