Listened to this book on tape on a road trip with my teenage grandchildren and we all loved it. It deals with very heavy issues with humor and a few shocks. It deals with bullying, death, violence, addiction, discrimination, friendship, hope, love and much more. A real winner!

3.5 Stars. Very well-written and a super fast read. The perfect next step for kids who have outgrown the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. Junior is a little older, a little wiser and a little more able to express himself in a way that the pre-teen will understand and respect. The story of Junior's f...

It is a pity that people get so hung-up on a few dirty words and so squeamish about anything to do with sex. This was my first novel told from an Indian's point of view. It deals with racism and being a teenager and being weird.I loved the art. The comic strips were adorable and authentic and I think they did match Junior's character.Junior was such a smart character. I loved him right from the beginning. ...

Funny, with some sharp and painful truths tucked among the silliness. So, basically like eating a ball of crushed glass dipped in chocolate. One more, please.Recommended reading for anyone's who's struggled with a hyphenated identity, and especially if you've tasted poverty and/or grief.

Wonderfully written. I love the light airiness of Alexie's words. I love Junior's 14-year-old wisdom. I love the courage illustrated in this book. I'm glad I read it :)

The first comparison that has to be made is to [b:House on Mango Street|139253|The House on Mango Street|Sandra Cisneros|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1348245688s/139253.jpg|2000351]. They are both coming of age novels written in a vignette style. Personally, I think The Absolutely T...
