Jarrod Jarvis considered himself lucky. That is, until the day the police discovered his long-time friend, Willard Ray Hornsby, floating face-down in his own lap pool. As a former child star from the 80s, Jarrod Jarvis was very thankful that his past was tucked in neatly behind him. He never overdosed on drugs, beat anybody up, or tired to rob a video store like some his notorious peers. Now thirty, Jarrod lives a quiet life in the Hollywood Hills with his policeman boyfriend and their Pekinese, while occasionally landing guest parts on handful of television shows, thanks to his tenacious manager whose specialty is finding work for TV has-beens. All of that is about to change. When Willard is found dead, the police come to the conclusion that it's your typical Hollywood former child star saga, and rule the death a "drunken accident." But none of the facts add up for Jarrod. As he sorts through the events leading up to his friend's death, uncovers a hornet's nest of secrets involving Willard's cold, unfeeling mother and her handsome but deadly husband, a frightened therapist who knows more than he should, a tattooed hustler prone to violence, and a gutter-mouthed granny who may be hiding a murderer. Before long, Jarrod's obsession with the case lands him in jail and on the front pages of the tabloids. It becomes every child star's worst nightmare! Following a trail that leads him from the posh mansions of Bel Air to one of the world's most exclusive spas in Palm Springs, Jarrod's dogged pursuit hurls him into a final showdown with a twisted, cold-blooded killer far above the city lights in the mountains below the world-famous Hollywood sign where only the coyotes can hear the screams...

My only complaint is that I would have liked to get to know Jarrod's bf better(whose name I can't even recall right now) and see their dynamic as a couple. One of the themes of the book was Jarrod's unresolved feelings for Willard and I was d...
