First of all, I'm shocked that I didn't enjoy this book more. It has everything in it I absolutely love. Romantic tension, action scenes, mysteries needing answers, comedic relief, and it was set in time similar to our 19th century. It took me awhile to get it started, and I had to restart it to r...

I've always loved clever mash-ups between genres, but I hadn't expected this one. A western with Brandon Sanderson's fantastic world-building and magic system from the Mistborn trilogy? Brilliant. I have never really loved westerns, but I was able to get into this one with joy and amusement. The cha...

Anddd... Brandon Sanderson has done it again. Pure awesomeness. I haven't really seen much historical fiction fantasy (oh wait, that's probably the definition of steampunk), so this was cool.

The 4-star rating is for the book's Mistborn connections, rather than the book as a stand alone. There are plenty of references to past characters and the marks they left on this new Victorian society, and there's an unexpected appearance of an "old friend" ol' Iron Eyes... So Sazed brought you back...

4.5 stars. After finishing a reread of all three books of Sanderson's Mistborn trilogy, I finally felt ready to tackle this book. Sure, I was aware that The Alloy of Law could technically be read as a standalone, given that it's set 300 years after the events of The Hero of Ages and stars completely...

Following the resounding success of my Locus Quest, I faced a dilemma: which reading list to follow it up with? Variety is the spice of life, so I’ve decided to diversify and pursue six different lists simultaneously. This book falls into my FINISHING THE SERIES! list.I loves me a good series! But I...

I can't rouse myself to feel strongly enough about this installment to post a particularly long or detailed review. Brandon Sanderson is something of a comfort read, I guess - I'm not that impressed by his writing, but he's not actively bad, and there's a certain dorkish appeal in his complex rules-...

I do like Sanderson's works, but please focus on one thing! He has a crazy amount of books going on. This one, that is a stand alone continuation of the Mistborn series will have a follow up in 2014. Or whenever. And will it be a real follow up? I do not know, but I hope so as things sure were left ...

What a fantastic book. I hate that I left this book for so long, but I loved it, loved it, loved it.First off, anything that uses some of the Old West feel is going to get a bit of a bonus from me. Its been a weakness of mine all my life. Something about the wild aesthetic of a story set in any sort...
