Nowa typologia dramaturgicznej twórczości arabskiej, obejmująca czasy nowożytne od roku 1847 po lata 80 naszego wieku. Najwięcej miejsca zajmuje w pracy analiza głównych kierunków rozwojowych tej twórczości, tzn. neoklasycyzmu, realizmu i kreacjonizmu, oraz ocena dzieł ich najwybitniejszych przedstawicieli.

The monograph presents a thorough analysis of major trends and movements in Arabic drama from its early beginnings in the 19th century till late 1980s. Over one thousand plays from Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Syria and Tunisia form the basis of the study. The author attempts at typological classifications of this rich dramaturgical literature and discovers very clear patterns which govern its development. She identifies three major trends in the history of Arabic drama and defines them as neoclassicism, realism, and creationism. All three are clearly independent and cannot be seen solely in the context of our Western perception of drama.
