This book has been banned for its strong lesbian contents. Now it is being banned for not having enough lesbian contents. Nothing is as it seems and this may upset you! Read at your own peril! What do you do when the love of your life has eloped with another woman on the eve of your wedding? The other woman is a famous beauty and their love story is splashed all over the tabloids, making you die inside. To add insult to injury, the man who has abandoned you is suddenly bursting with unusual creativity and his nude paintings of his famous wife sell like crazy. And when he dies unexpectedly, having left you a cryptic text message suggesting that you were always his one and only, where do you go?If you are Carly Rosen, a portrait artist with huge imagination, you use your art to charm your way across the inky River Styx and down to the Land of the Dead. There, faced with your greatest fear, you beg the powerful Hades for the life of your beloved. The Art of Peeling an Orange, set in sizzling, contemporary West Hollywood, is an erotic, risqué take on the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. The story's powerful structure, colorful characters, and magical themes echo the ancient Greek myth of the lovers in the Underworld.By Ameliah FaithNothing is as it seemsThis book was incredible! I was hooked from the start and did not put it down till I was finished, I simply could not! After a night dreaming of these women, this story, I then read it again. This book ran the gamut of emotions and senses. The story's sustenance was hypnotic, addicting, breathtaking, mysterious, sensual and so full of nuances, apprehension and twists that you never saw coming. Even with the sweet release the drama ceased to end. By books end I was well and truly spent. This is one of those books that when you finish and surface to face the real world you can not believe it has not changed. Surely the world can not be the same after such an experience.Thank you so very much Ms. Avilan, for this wonderful encounter.Denis Vukosav (TOP 100 REVIEWER)'The Art of Peeling an Orange', a debut book written by Victoria Avilan, was a complete surprise for me in a positive sense, an appealing work that combines thrilling story, mystery and romance delivering a novel of great atmosphere full of twists and turns.Victoria Avilan with her debut created an appealing novel full of mystery and suspense about the love, obsession and trust - a novel that manages to surprise reader in many occasions, though I will not disclose any details in order not to spoil the joy of own discovery. Due to Avilan's style, one will in same time expect something to happen and wonder what might could go in different direction, that makes this novel a real rollercoaster until the very last page.Though there are many similar titles on market, it's hard to believe that this is the first work of Victoria Avilan, because of her successful avoiding of genre clichés while leading the reader through her brilliantly conceived story.... combination of many genres that can be recommended as novel that managed to take best from each of them delivering an experience that makes the time invested in its reading well-spent and unforgettable.by Dennis Waller (TOP 500 REVIEWER)"The Art of Peeling an Orange was an exciting and fun read. Very well done with a plot and storyline that was entertaining and just drew me in from the beginning. This is not a predictable read with a predictable plot and that makes it so exciting as I didn't know what was coming which is refreshing for a change. For the genre, this is one of the best I have read in a while."
